I stayed at Asahidake Onsen Hotel Bearmonte which was just at the foot of the Asahidake Ropeway. Went up the Ropeway (Bought return tickets for 2900Yen) to 1600m above sea level. I was initially disappointed because it was all foggy and the visibility was bad....More

Despite it being a cloudy day, we took the Asahidake ropeway up the mountain and followed the path around Asahidaira. The mountain was shrouded in mist so we didn't have the wonderful views we had been looking forward to, but we still enjoyed the walk....More

As with many other reviewers, we took the cable car up. It's expensive, but worth it. The view from the observation area is fine, but a short 1.7km walk will provide magnificent views of the vents on Asahidake and panoramic views of the surrounding areas....More
