We booked 1 day in Somoto canyon and 2 days with 1 night in Miraflor Reserve to discover the different zones from the reserve. Somoto canyon was a SUPER experience, worth to do for 30 $! We did the large tour with our guide Rigo explaining a lot of things all along this tour. Great lunch when we went back.... More

Definitely worth going. We took a bus from Esteli to Cellobal and walked around on ourselves. Really nice views. There's a nice waterfall a little bit downhill. Nice to take a break or swim. Not many places to eat, so make sure to bring some food!

The day I visited Miraflor the farm opposite my home stay was harvesting their annual crop of potatoes, with the assistance of 2 oxen to lift the crop and around 20 locals to bag up the potatoes! The peace and tranquillity instantly threw me back in time. I had arranged a 2 day home stay, together with a morning's tour... More

My partner and I dropped into TreeHuggers as soon as we arrived in Esteli. We booked a day trip to Miraflor with an English speaking guide - only $20. We were fortunate to have Wilder as our guide. Fluent in Spanish & English he was born in The Miraflor Nature Reserve and so had much information and many stories to... More

I booked this overnight stay in Miraflor at Treehuggers and I was simply super excited! The people in Estili itself seemed super friendly, open-minded and inviting. And at the treehuggers also made a great effort selling this trip by telling you how you get to know about the living as a farmer in the country side and cloudforrest. You would... More

We almost didn't go to Esteli, and we were so happy we did. We booked a homestay in Miraflor through Treehuggers in town. By far one of the most friendly and knowledgable tour companies. They clearly care a lot about the area, and most of the staff were born and raised in Miraflor. We left really early on the bus... More

Beautiful. We loved our guide. We opted for a Spanish-speaking guide in order to practice our Spanish and it went great. The bus ride is bumpy and dusty, but worth an excursion out of the city.

We were told that Miraflor was a must see and it did absolutely not disappoint. We booked our trip via Treehuggers in Estelí. After a bumpy bus (with no seatings) ride of approximately 1:45h, we arrived at La Pita for a nice breakfast with local coffee. Our guide, Nelson, led us through the beautiful landscapes of Miraflor's microclimates with spectacular... More

Do try to go to Miraflor! We loved it. Plenty of opportunities for a homestay with a rural campesino family. We booked through Treehuggers. Very easy. You go up on a local bus, which is also all part of the experience.
