We visited Thirunallar temple to seek the blessings of the lord Saturn (lord Shani bhagawan) and then decided to head towards Tranquebar (Tharangabadi). Our search for nearby places lead us to visit this old Danish port. We were not disappointed, On the sea shore, stood...More

Built by the Danes in CE 1620, the small fort served as the administrative capital of the rather minuscule Danish possessions in India. The fort has a small museum which gives a peek into the lives and times of the Danes in India.

Just be there and feel the waves hitting the shores. The view of the fort at sunrise is a spectacle.Nothing but a view point. But if you have photography friends, you might end up spending half a day here.

Initially the entire city was fortified but what is now referred to as the fort is the fortified trading post. Please refer to my review of the Fort under Fort Dansborg

It is an old seafront structure that you can cover in ten minutes. Notwithstanding its historic significance, there isn't much to see here.
