We did the kayak tour on the estuary with Alejandro last week and it was amazing!! We own a house just half a mile down the beach from there and never have gone into the estuary just stared at it and wondered. I learned more about the area in terms of history, geology, biology and the local people than I... More

Kayaking through the estuary with Alejandro and Nadia was one of the coolest things I've ever done! Abundant birds everywhere and the trees were alive with iguanas moving through them. The kayaks are super stable and the water is very slow moving. This felt more like a day out with friends than a structured tour. Alejandro is a wonderful guide... More

I enjoyed both the kayak tour and lower Sierra hike. This was my first visit to the area and appreciated the learning experience and adventure. Both Alejandro and Nadia took great care of our group. Alejandro is very knowledgeable. I also appreciated how much he cares about his community and the dedication he has to helping the community through both... More

The guided tour to the waterfall was the only way we would have ever been able to wander through the forest, looking at native trees and birds and having them identified. We were able to ask questions and we learned a lot. We also would never have been able to find the waterfall or the swimming hole, since we crossed... More

Took the Sierra Madre hike in January and the lagoon kayak tour in April and one thing sums it up: Alejandro is an excellent host and tour guide. We can't recommend these tours highly enough. Both of them!

My husband and I took the kayaking tour with Alejandro and his assistant Nadia. There were 4 of us and the guides. Alejandro was so knowledgeable about the area, the birds, the environment and anything we asked him. We had fresh coconut when we finished our tour and then he took us back to town. We had lunch at a... More

I've gone on Alejandro's tours (kayaking & a hike) as well as arranged for the ladies who attend my yoga retreat in the area to go with him. His trips are always a highlight for the women. Alejandro is so knowledgable! The estuary is a beautiful natural site with migratory & native birds. And the hike was a fun way... More

For two years in a row I've hosted a small group (10 people) to Troncones for a yoga and writing workshop. We've partnered with Costa Nativa Ecotours and have not been disappointed. Their local guides have important knowledge and they interact with and support local communities, people and projects. Our group has done several of the options and everyone has... More

I took the Sierra Madres hike in late January with Alejandro. Finding it difficult to add to what's been previously written. I thoroughly enjoyed Alejandro's extensive knowledge and patience. He was always right there when I needed a hand crossing the river. Wear shows that can get wet if you have them. I highly recommend this if you come to... More

Alejandro guided us along the backroads between the beach and hills near Troncones. We chose this hike in part to learn more about where we might safely walk in the area. Although it was not the greatest day for birding (not Alejandro's fault). We were in the forested area away from the beach where we saw citreoline trogons several times,... More
