We went here on a weekend with another couple who got married and to whom we gifted a weekend in this area. We stayed in Le Crotoy, visited the bay to see it's plants and animals and tasted the herbs that grow there. And then we enjoyed an autumn sunny afternoon with our feet in the clay and water of... Regularly stop here for a comfort break on "our way south", but today decided to take time for a longer break and explore part of the nature reserve. What a delightful surprise, a haven of peace only a stone's throw from the busy autoroute. Well worth the time for quiet reflection on the events for which the Somme appears better... More

The bay of the Somme allows you to walk for miles along the water, enjoying nature and wildlife. Whether you go for a walk along the dike of Saint-Valery-sur-Somme or you wait for low tide and go walking on the beach of le Crotoy, the scenery is amazing and nature is full of surprises. At low tide you can walk... More

We were really glad we stopped at somme on our tour through France. It was one of the most peaceful places we have ever visited. This was totally unexpected considering a lot of blood was shed in this part of the world. You could sit and watch the wildlife at your ease and the people were very friendly and considerate.... You may enjoy contemplating the versatile lights, or observing the natural life or fishing in high waters…. The Bay is a place for many passions : bicycle, horse, boats, old trains, walking, photography, sound recording, there are plenty of ways to come around or come across the Bay. The Bay is a natural site but more than that, the sea... More

Great area for visiting small villages, Seaside towns or for walking and cycling. There are safe cycle routes all round the bay going to all the main locations. There is lots of wildlife to see with many types of birds and there are usually Seals in the bay and on the sand banks. Amazing sun sets and great views accross... More

You do not have to be a professional cyclist to have fun with cycling at the bay of the Somme. You do not need a MTB to do a lot of cycling there. We were there for 5 days and drove around with our city-bikes for 295 km.You can follow a nice bicyclepath around the whole bay of the Somme,... More

This is excellent walking and cycling country. The Bay itself is incredibly beautiful. We have been back twice this year and will probably end up going again next year we liked it so much. St Valery and Le Crotoy are lovely old towns (medieval and victorian). The cycle network is really good with lots of tarmac covered cycle paths connected... More

Many of the campsites offering mobile homes in this area use the same online booking system. This system appears like any other on-line booking system, except that it is not. You choose your campsite, the type of mobile home and dates, it asks for your full contact details, credit card (including the security code) and date of birth, and it... More

If you like wondering around old French towns, you'll love St Valery. The old city walls, the prison where Joan of Arc was inprisoned, the churches and the sceanery. The town has many fine sea food restaurants the competition helps keep the prices very reasonable. We dined on fruits de mer plus a bottle of wine for 10 euros. Excelent... More
