This route of the great wines (D974) takes you 60 km to 33 wine growing villages and little towns with the grandest wine appellations in the Cote d'Or from Dijon to Santenay, Burgundy. It first runs through the 40 km long and 2 km wide Cote de Nuits region containing 24 of the 33 (red) Pinot Noir grands crus before... More

My young kids came on this trip with us and all of us had a blast!! The kids loved running through the grapevines. Shhh don't tell any of the vineyards that they also picked some grapes along the way!!!! Really a memorable trip that no one will forget! Loved it!

You can consider a group tour of the Véloroute des Grands Crus in Burgundy (cost, about 125 Euros a day)--or you can go on your own. I opted to do it my way. I rented a vélo (bike) in Beaune, and took off down the trail, map furnished by the bike rental. The most confusing part was getting out of... More

We stopped at Volnay to enjoy our baguette cheese and tomato and cucumber. It is a beautiful village with lots of narrow lanes in which to get lost. At the Commune there is a clean toilette and tables outside under the trees to sit at while looking over the fabulous scenery.

Started from Beaune, went South, visited Chateau de Pommard and then toured all along all the back back to Dijon. Had a great time. On the way enjoyed picnic amongst the vineyards

The vineyard views and lovely small towns alone are worth it! If you have the time, drive the road in both directions and check out every little side road and vista. Meursault was being torn apart for some civic project and I still loved it. Lots of restos and cafes available but the area screams for picnicing. Oh, and wine... More

This is a wonderfully picturesque drive along the Burgundy wine district. Wineyards are scattered along the path with fields of wineranks. Be sure to bring your camera!

Just amazing in the summer with rolling vineyards as far as the eye can see. Definitely hire some cycles from Beaune and cycle south down to Santeney, passing Pommard, Meursalt and the Montrachet towns to name but a few. Drink and eat all the way. Dedicated Velo routes make the trip even more idyllic. Be warned though, the route is... More
