Although this park is beautiful and has nice beaches, etc, the trails are not very well groomed and the bugs were terrible!

From the fox we saw at the park entrance and eagles flying overhead to the sheer size of Lake Winnipeg and the amazing spa waters at Hecla Resort, this was well worth the trip. Plans to return already.

Visiting Hecla in late September is fantastic. It is quiet and breathtakingly beautiful. The boardwalks at Grassy Narrows marshlands is a must any time of the year, but was especially enjoyable (no bugs) and pleasant in September.

Hecla Island combined history of the Manitoba Icelandic settlement with a smorgasbord of different landscapes and natural scenes. This includes former farmland returned to nature, rocky shores, beaches and harbours. While there is no more permanent population there is a population of park and service...More

Clean trails for sledding! Lots to see, and nice warm up shacks. Tobogganing, skiing, skating, snowshoeing.

Hecla Island is a special place. Even the ride though is packed with history and beauty. I'd encourage anyone going through to prepare for a lot of walking as the true beauty is strolling around enjoying the reminders of the one bustling Hecla and reading...More

We've visited Hecla for years, usually for 5 night stays in the campground. The biking and hiking opportunities are endless, the beach is huge and never crowded, fishing spots along the shore are plentiful and if visiting toward the end of July, delicious saskatoon berries...More

Wow, two months later. I really wish I'd seen this earlier. The hiking trails would likely be a bit soggy however walking through the park as a whole would take hours and be quite beautiful.
