A truly fascinating place ,to learn and get a feel for what actually happened there. Along with the museum and the crematorium it does make for a tourist free and very interesting day out You climb the spiral staircase with detailed murals depicting the battle On a clear day the views are amazing A must see visit

This tower is worth a visit both as a museum to the Battle of Solferino, fought during the Italian Risorgimento, and as a platform for the stunning views of Lake Garda, Monte Baldo and the Po plain. Easily worth the 2 or 3 euros entrance

From the battle of Solerfino, the Red Cross was founded by Henry Durant here in 1859. It's really sobering, and the nearby museum down the hill in Castiglione delle Stiviere is worth visiting as well. Working for the military on official duty out in the nearby countryside - which is among the most tranquil and beautiful on Earth - coming... More
