A family run attraction. Kindness and charm are their trademark. The trip up the mountain is quite an experience! (be prepared for a rather bumpy ride). The sweeping views from the top are breathtaking and you are able to keep any opals you find!

The tour won't happen if there aren't four people signed up. So if you're a couple or a single traveler, you might not get to do the tour. Sucks to plan a visit to Tequis around this tour and then not be able to do it...

Learn while you listen, see and do. See the shop, the store and the actual mines Find out and practice how to cut a rock and find the opals. Fun.

We visited the mines with our two daughters (8&10). We all enjoyed the adventure. They picked us up in twin and drove us up to the store to explain about the Opals and then off to the mines. It has been the most wonderful experience I've had in Tequisquiapan! Highly recommendable that you include this visit in your activities to do while you are in Tequisquiapan. You arrive at the bottom of the mines then you have to change your car for one suitable to climb up the road to ge to the mine. The people who do... More

The MOST exclusive thing is that hey may detonate a small explosive to let you break the pieces of rock with a hammer and find your opal.

we spend a few hours looking for opals, my housband found one, and when we return to the shop the owner clean it an work the rock for us, I love to learn from the family the story about opal and the owner grandson show every thing that his grandpa has taught him a really interesting day.

This is a nice tour where you can actually visit a mine, and you can get you own opals from the stone... guide is just amanzing while explaining to everyone the process and how a mine works... kids enjoyed a lot this tour

If you're into rocks this is a cool trip to do. You can also see the entire valley from the mine sites.
