I don't know why this place is considered an attraction.
The animals (duck, cats, rabbits, hamsters, pidgeons and so on) are in really bad conditions: they don't have clean water to drink and the place where they live is really dirty. Even though ducks and pidgeons are free to roam wherever they want, rabbits and the other animals are literaly imprisoned there.

Taking some time out

Me and husband visited here every day on our visit as only staying up the road. It is a must see and a great reminder all beings are important.

Cute!

We visited the Duck Village twice because it was interesting and just over the road from our apartment. It is a very different tourist attraction and it was a pleasure to donate to such a good cause. We liked its character and the variety of birds on display. The guinea pig is very cute.

Great place to spend 20 mins.

A great little 20 mins spent with some lovely ducks, chickens and cats. All free and run by a volunteer so please spare some change when you visit.

Cute conservation effort

This is a shanty town cobbled together as a wildlife haven. We saw ducks, water fowl, geese, guinea pigs, rabbits and cats...so many cats.
I'm led to believe it is run by 1 person but it seems a few people stop by and feed them regularly.
A lovely place to stop at if you're an animal lover, you can then take a walk around Fort Manoel; if at dusk keep an eye out for bats chasing bugs overhead.

Mixed emotions about this place...

...because once I found there a rabbit in a very bad condition, as if he were dying. No one reacted, just mourned "oh, poor bunny" and passed by. I took him to the vet.

Happened upon this on the way to grandmasters palace. You'll see it if you walk. Clearly a lot of effort went into this so take some time to appreciate it.

A bit different!
Aug 2019 • Family
It’s interesting to see that ducks are also thought of and there is an area where they can live and be fed. There were also supposed to be cats & guinea pigs, but we didn’t see those - maybe hiding from the heat ore out exploring! Lots of ducks and pigeons. Quirky and worth a visit if you are in the area.

A follow-up visit
May 2019 • Solo
This idea originated as an incentive by the Federation for Hunting and Conservation - Malta (FKNK) to put something back into nature in the hope that there would be more birds for locals and visitors to see. Two swans the FKNK had purchased from France unfortunately are no longer there but the ducks and other birds seem to be thriving.
The caretaker, Joe Borg has set his heart into this project so much so that it is now completely in his hands.
He ensures there is enough food and shelter for the birds that fly around freely always returning to their 'Popeye-like' houses and give the area a special touch that makes you stop and look. Fascinating.
