We perform guided tours of Vinicola Benanti during the week. We start with an excursion on the vineyard Monte Serra, which is an ex crater of the Etna. Here we have the Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio vines, with major part pre-philoxera and older than 100 years. We will continue by visiting the ‘palmento’ which dates from 1700. Following the tour there will be a local brunch accompanied with our most selective volcanic wines.

One of the highlights of our trip to Sicily this past fall was our visit to the Benanti Winery. We had a little trouble finding it as it its entrance is almost hidden off a busy street in the little town of Viagrande. Once there however, it was like being transported to another world. Behind the brick walls and up... More

Not to be missed! Incredible wine, incredible people and incredible meal. Really, it puts all other wine tours & tastings to shame. We will happily support this producer for as long as we can.

We were in Sicily to celebrate my wife's 60th birthday and took the opportunity to visit the Benanti Winery. Having been greeted by Valentina we were shown around the vineyards where we were surprised to find that wine tasting began on the hillside with a delicate, fresh sparkling white wine with canapés. It was at this point we were introduced... More

We had a wonderful visit with Antonio. They family are great hosts and their wine is superb. The food and ambiance is perfect for an afternoon of wine tasting. Don't miss this one if you find yourself on Etna.

We called into Benanti Winery on a September afternoon without notifying the winery that we were coming. We were overwhelmed with the warm welcome and were very fortunate that Salvino Benanti made the time to show us around and let us taste some of the absolutely wonderful wines they produce at Benanti Winery. We are a couple from Australia and... More

When you arrive in front of the vinery, mind that you have to enter to a brown large gate, it's not marked great, look out for the house number "361" Visit starts with visit to in-state vineyards, and a degustation of good vino Bianco. Tour continues with visiting "palmento" - old vine producing machine used up to some 30 years... More

NOT TO E MSSED by ANY OENOPHILE. AN education by experts in the winemaking process as it pertains to the unique slopes of Mount Etnsa with the characteristic laa based soil and personlized family touch craft winer requires.

We were extremely disappointed by our winery tour and "light lunch" at Benanti Winery. It cost 50€ each which is double the price of other tours we have done, but it sounded great so I was willing to pay. My disappointment began with my difficulty even arranging the tour. It took several days before my initial emails were responded to.... More

Dear J_loves_cooking Thank you for your comments, which I value greatly. I am sorry that the experience we offer was not in line with your expectations. As owner of the winery, though, it is my duty to try to clarify some of the points you have made. Grouping guests together is a policy which is common at many wineries. In... More

We attended a wine tasting with a group and were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the wine. The proprietors (family owned) were engaging and charming; very proud of their wines and their legacy. Small family owned and charming tasting room about 20 minutes outside of downtown Catania. Worth the drive --- call ahead for hours of operation.

Benanti Winery, Via Giuseppe Garibaldi, 361, 95029 Viagrande CT, Italy, is found on the steep slopes of Mt. Etna, and is a jewel you should not miss. My fellow travelers and I were treated by our hostess Valentina, a young Sicilian woman with a great knowledge of wine and wine making. She lead us up the slopes and began by... More
