Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Went to the spring garden show at the castle yesterday, very bad turnout, only about 6 plant stalls and there were 2 that had such extornate prices they didnt seem to have much sales,
€5 to be paid at the gate when driving in, yet they let 2 cars infront of me in without paying as they seemed to be friends with the woman charging at the gate....very unfair to be charging some and others get in free.
I have attended every garden show that has been here but because on the unfairness of the charging at the gate i certainly wont be back,
What does the €5 cover ???

Was on the fence with this review but Mike made all the difference.
This place is close to downtown Galway approximately 15 min drive.
Johnny greeted us when we pulled in just after dinner. He was very nice showed us to our room and helped with our bags. I thought I booked a castle room and at 1st was a little bit upset then come to realize it was my mistake. Which worked out well because I loved our room.

I had the salmon room .
It was clean ,big beautiful and had a huge king comfortable bed with nice linens ,big fluffy towels and the best shower water pressure I have ever had in my life. With views of the castle and stream. There was a welcome bottle of wine which was nice. ( we did not try ,we are not wine drinkers) there was bottle water ,instant coffee and tea and kettle. They supply bathroom soap and shampoo . There was also a hairdryer. And free wifi in your room.

However … what this room does NOT have
There are NO - hotel phones to contact front desk, and really after dinner the only way to communicate it through email. So be sure to check if you have all you need just after checking in. There are No - clocks, or TV, usb outlets [ G type plugs only] no plugs in he bathroom for hairdryer, no screens for the windows so bugs get in, no kleenex no real place to hang your clothes.
It was explained that they want you to feel relaxed and unplugged here , I get it.

Breakfast
They drop it off at your requested time. Yogurt, buns bread, butter ,jam ,milk, juice and fruit and lil boxes of cereal.
Note * I just requested toast ,jam fruit milk and cereal so we didn’t waste the other stuff.

Our second day we had an informative tour of the grounds and castle. And that’s when Mike changed my mind on this place. Explaining that they take in comments and try to do better and that they want you feel unplugged here and the many renovations they have done and are still doing to the castle.

So yes I would recommend this place.

I cannot speak highly enough of my recent stay at Claregalway Castle. The warmest of Irish welcomes followed by an impromptu tour of the ongoing castle restoration. My room was immaculate, featuring a stunning four-poster bed, antique furniture, cosy lighting, and underfloor heating. Well-stocked tea & coffee making facilities and a welcome bottle of wine. The breakfast was generous and varied, left outside the room each morning for when I was ready to emerge from the covers! Hosts Mike and Ruth were both super helpful and friendly; they couldn't have made me more welcome. I cannot wait to visit again, bringing my family with me next time.

We went to the garden show on Sunday and it was most enjoyable as the sun was shining and the grounds of the Castle looked beautiful.

We attended the Discover Galway Food Experiences event here. It is a great venue for any sort of event like this. It is spacious and easily accessible and very easy to find. It is steeped in history which just makes it so interesting. There is also a first class cafe and plenty of car parking space on site. I would recommend attending anything here. They have lots of nice events throughout the year like gardening exhibitions and mock medieval tournaments. Great place for a day out.

My husband surprised me with a night at the castle for our 20th wedding anniversary while we were in Galway. The history and grounds are beautiful and they are restoring the castle to a full BnB. There are three rooms currently and it was so romantic with a comfortable queen size bed, candles throughout the room and breakfast at your door. We had a bottle of wine, water, tea and coffee as well. The groundskeeper gave us a tour and some history about the castle and they also hold events throughout the year. We were able to walk up to the top of the tower, it’s a must see if you get the chance.

Claregalway is an experience in itself! The host at the castle was very friendly and provided a private tour of the grounds. It is located centrally in town which makes the whole village walking distance. The rooms are spectacular if you are staying there and the venue hosts a number of different events throughout the year- be sure to check their calendar!
