This twice weekly market was really good. We enjoyed it much more than its touristy counterpart in ChiChicastenango. We only saw a total of 5 other gringos at the Solola market. The items we purchased there were very good value. The people were quite friendly....More

I took the chicken bus from Panajachel which took about 15 mins, interesting trip up the mountain to Sololá. The market is only held on Tuesdays and well worth a visit to see the local people selling everything from flowers to live chickens.

Make sure you're around Lake Atitlan on a Friday to witness one of the most authentic events in the whole of Central America. Visually stunning, both people and goods on display.

Our guide Carlos took us to this local market on our way to Lake Atitilan. We were able to mingle with the local people doing their daily shopping. It was very colourful and interesting. A good insight into daily life.
