I have been to this museum three times and I always love it. This time I visited in March, and I was surprised to find hundreds of school children visiting. I guess whether you go in high season or low season, it is always popular! Finding the place is not exactly easy. There are virtually no signs telling you how... More

So very happy that we visited this stunning archaeological discovery. In awe on how well presented and explained the findings are. The site as well as the museum are exceptional. Must, Must, Must visit if you are traveling through the region.

Back in Greece for the Xmas break we decided to visit the Vergina museum with the findings from the Aigai (the ancient capital of Macedonia) including the tomb of Philippos, King of the Macedons and father of Alexander the Great. We went with our children (12 & 4) because we wanted them to get some idea of Greek history. The... More

A very important site of Macedonia one should not miss! Impecable presentation of the findings of the royal macedonian tomps. So proud of oir history and of the lifetime work off the archeologists. We are grateful.

We took a tour from Thessaloniki to the Royal Tombs, which were very impressive, as not only are they well preserved but being underground gives a sense of time when you enter the site. Worth the journey which seemed quite long from Thessaloniki, but the route also provided us with some idea of area that people lived in before and... More

Once you enter the museum you will feel you made the right choice. One of the most important ancient tombs of Greece and arguably the most well preserved. Designed with respect for the ancient findings. Surely a very interesting choice for travellers that are into ancient civilizations

Vergina, a few kilometers from the nearby city of Veria, is the site of tomb mounds. My Greek husband remembers standing on one during a school field trip in the 1960's. The site was always rumored to the burial place of the ancient royalty of the Kingdom of Macedonia. When archeologists did excavate there tombs were discovered containing what is... More
