Nice little Village

Very small village but nice all the same, only 15 minutes drive from Sligo town, and 20 minutes from carrick-on-shannon.

Step back in time as you walk through the castle and grounds. Quite lovely. Great background for pictures, beautiful setting along a creek/river. Spectacular step back in time to another era.

With the main Dublin-Sligo road (N4) running through the middle, it's hard for a village to appear attractive. Despite its limitations, Castlebaldwin does offer basic facilities for travellers : for example, there's a very good Filling-Station/Shop, with a fast-food outlet attached, and an O.K. pub at the Dublin end, also offering food choices.

A typical small Irish town. I found the lack of crowds and surrounding countryside very appealing. It was a bit difficult to find a garage with an air pump open on Sunday
