About
Halfway between Reggio Emilia and Parma, at the feet of the hills of Matilda of Canossa, you can find our winery. Established at the end of the Sixties, the cellar was made out of an ancient farmhouse dated 1884. The building is situated in the middle of our 15 hectares high-density vineyard (about 4.000 vines per hectare). Its yield is low, as it's cultivated using the spurred cordon technique, therefore completely environmentally friendly. Our history began with my father Rinaldo Rinaldini, owner of a renowned restaurant where wines and cold cuts were strictly handmade and you could enjoy our most traditional local specialties. This love for our lore, together with the admiration and knowledge of "methode Champenoise", led our family to become wine growers. Thanks to our perseverance, skill and curiosity we managed to preserve ancient endangered vines , so in few years we proved that even from mistreated and almost forgotten vines it's possible to work wonders. We are still a small, family-run business, though it has been enlarged over the years, employing the most advanced equipment and technology, in order to maintain the highest quality level without neglecting our traditions and the lessons of experience. The winery is equipped with an underground cellar, a real "cave" for champagne, used for ageing Spumante bottles then for their still manually "remuage", and for the storage "en barrique" of the most valuable wines. Inside the former stable, we built up a small oenological museum, a wine tasting counter and a shop with our products.

Worth a stop!

I passed by this winery on the way from Traversetolo to Modena, and decided to stop. Unfortunately it was child pickup time at school. Nonetheless, my hostess was gracious and gave me some tasting/tour before and after the pickup; I was not in any hurry and did not mind. I am not a big sparkling fan, but I did end up buying a few of their still red wines. The one I happened to taste had been sitting around opened for quite some time, but amazingly showed quite a bit of depth and flavor. I cannot wait to get home and try a nely opened bottle!

What a pleasant surprise. We stopped in and even though we were the only visitors, we were greeted warmly and invited to taste many of their wines and vinegars from this family-run winery. Very nice, reasonably priced products. We've brought several bottles all the way back to New Zealand with us.

We were also given some great restaurant recommendations. Our host spoke excellent English too.

Don't be put off by the fact there's no obvious shop front when you drive in. Just make them aware you're there and someone will look after you.
