Artbreit
May 2018 • Friends
Still after leaving the car park beside the old storehouse you will see three statues made of iron. If you enter this wonderful small city through the gate beside the town hall you find a big white head in front at the corner of the restaurant "Alter Esel". That means its artbreit. On the market square is a information desk where you can get more info and a plan where all the exhibits are all over this old town. The best all is free but you can supported this amazing exhibition with the purchase of art postcards for 1,50€ or 3 peaces for 3€ or 18 for 12€, as well as art posters for 6€. You shouldn't miss it if you stay around this wonderful place.

Market Square with wonderful ensemble
May 2017 • Friends
The market square of the small town of Marktbreit has a wonderful ensemble of old buildings. The first you will see if you enter the gate beside the town hall are two big old buildings in the style of the Wurzburg Baroque. This stylistic "foreign bodies" are the trading houses which were built in the 18th century. The house on the right hand side was constructed in 1717-1719 by the Baroque architect Joseph Greisinger. The tradesman Georg Günther built the house on the left hand side in 1725. In front of this trading houses you will find the hotel "Löwe" . This is second oldest guesthouse of Bavaria. In the 15th century they started with a guesthouse and a baronial hostel. The framework design from the 18th century has been exposed since the beginning of the 20th century. One of the famous guests of this place was the sovereign Louis I, King of Bavaria.

A Charming Gathering Place
May 2014 • Couples
In the heart of a pedestrian area, this is often the site for festivals and markets. Loads of cafes, shops and restaurants nearby.

Small but worth seeing if you are inside the city walls
Apr 2014 • Couples
It is worth sitting in the sun and having a drink and watching the people going by. The surrounding houses are nice, but the square is nothing special.

Mixture of Modern and Baroque

Loved the fountain in the shape of an obelisk. Lots to see including the town hall building. Plenty of shops around the Marktpltz to tempt you as well.

The area was totally covered by the market great pity as you could not really taken in the buildings around the square, not a market we would return to another year.

Beautiful square, but why the parking?
Nov 2013 • Couples
Visiting a saturday afternoon in November there wasn't to much to see here, but the weather was nice and the architecture surrounding the square was beatiful. But for some reason there was parking spaces on the square which was very disturbing. Without them it would have been so much better.

Nice
Sep 2013 • Couples
The Marktplatz is a nice area, quite large with buildings from many periods. We liked the old town area of Wismar because the buildings are not all of one period with an Art Nouveau building right next to one from the 1600's. It makes the area feel more real and alive.

Lovely place
Aug 2013 • Family
A place where people of different ages eat sausages and other traditional foods, drink a beer, chatting about everything in the Moon and the stars, while a music band is singing local/German songs. The atmosphere is really capturing in a very special way. Happy, friendly faces, they behave like they didn't see one each other for so many years and a lot of things need to be related... Daily there are relatively same faces...
In Sunday a lot of artifacts were exposed in this market.
