Interesting view

Looking at it from different sides gives it an even more unique view. Even the kids found it interestingly cool, but were mostly intrigued by the golden spheres on top of the building.

Wish our housing developments looked like this!

This is a really interesting place for lovers of architecture, right near Plochingen town centre so easy to find. It is a private residence and therefore you cannot wonder around the grounds. You are able to walk up the stairs to the private gate and view from the outside. You can hardly blame the people for not wanting to have strangers stamping around their home, but it’s a shame you can’t get a closer look.

Worth seeing ... but you're not supposed to enter the garden!
Jul 2017 • Family
We had read about the Hundertwasser-Wohnhaus before setting off on our cycling holiday and decided we would stop there once en route. You can see the buildings from the train from Stuttgart.
On the day we arrived by bike, we couldn't work out how to enter the site. Then we found the entrance with planks conveniently placed on the steps, enabling us to push our bikes easily. We went into the garden and looked around, before being politely asked to leave by a workman. Apparently, there was some repair or renovation work in progress and the planks on the steps were there for the convenience of the man pushing the wheelbarrow up and down, and not for the convenience of cyclists!

An Unexpected Architectural Treat
Sep 2016 • Solo
The Hundertwasser Wohnhaus in Plochingen reflects the architect's vision of no straight lines, oddly positioned windows of varying sizes and shapes, and colorful facades. The Wikipedia article gives a quick overview of the artist and the Plochingen city website provides more details on this housing project. There are two points from which you can look at the project at each end of the courtyard - entry into the central courtyard of the project is prohibited to give residents some privacy. While it would seem restrictive, you can get a good sense of the layout and construction from these two vantage points, to include close up view of the brightly colored tiles and strange pillars. There are bike racks around the periphery of the building, and car parking in the basement. On the ground floor there is a nice grocery store, Rewe, to pick up snacks or picnic supplies. While not quite as over-the-top as the Hundertwasser Haus in Vienna, there is real a cool factor in finding such a unique building in a small town!

Amazing architecture in an unexpected place
May 2016 • Couples
As amateur architecture buffs, my wife and I steered our tandem bike through Plochingen mainly to have a look at the Hundertwasser house. Even though it is a private residential building, and therefore the interiors are not open to the public, there is enough to see from the outside to make it well worth a look. Interestingly, this was built by the city of Plochingen in the mid-1990s as something of a revitalization project in an otherwise unremarkable (but quite pleasant) Neckar River town. Plochingen is nothing like Barcelona, but Hundertwasser is reminiscent of Gaudi in terms of turrets, rooflines, use of glazed ceramic tile, and colors. And if you're in town, go have dinner at Cervus. Outstanding.

Absolutely fascinating!

It was a big surprise to find out that there was a Hundertwasser House in the area of Stuttgart! I think it's even more fascinating for people who have seen the buidlings in Vienna!

Where to Begin...
Jul 2014 • Friends
... reviewing this amazing building complex? This is a real residential complex, so access is rather limited, but you can visit and view quite bit from the access steps and the courtyard. Hundertwasser was a unique individual and his entire oeuvre reflects it. Take lots of photos, don't skimp, nothing looks the same from different angles. There is a cafe on the premises, but it is closed on Mondays, so plan accordingly.
