We were lucky enough to visit Leap Castle on 31 October 2022 (halloween). We arrived at early on in the morning and Sean greeted us and gave us wonderful history of his work restoring the castle and of it's history. Afterwards, he play his tin whistle. Afterwards, we were give the lantern and given free roam of the castle.

Great time at Leap Castle!

We arrived with the expectation of walking around an old haunted castle and to learn a little bit of the history. What we left with was so much more.

Sean (the Owner and resident of Leap Castle) greeted us at the door and welcomed us into his home and sat us down in front of an open fire. He proceeded to tell us the history of Leap Castle and how he came to be the owner. It’s filled with interesting Irish history!

He then provided torches and directed us towards the Bloody Tower, which we very slowly walked up! Once we finished this we then rejoined Sean around the fire and learned more about his very interesting life and his time living at Leap Castle!

When we asked questions around paranormal activity we got more than we bargained for! I’ll spare the details so I don’t spoil anybody’s experience.

Well worth a visit!

Paid Sean €6 per person for his time and
Stayed 45mins to 1 hour here.

I spent last night in Leap Castle at a private paranormal investigation with Púca Paranormal. What an amazing place. The time, effort and love the Sean Ryan has put into this castle over the years really comes through. It's a pleasure to visit a building with such history behind it, there was lots of unexplained paranormal activities along the way too!

We telephoned beforehand but there was no need - you can visit between 10 - 5

It was a surprisingly good visit and would definitely recommend. Sean the owner was very welcoming and gave us a history of his home.

This is a must visit place - didn’t see any ghosts - but got a very strange feeling walking up the stairs ...

This was an amazing experience. In the summer months, just knock on the door between 10-5 during the week and he will let you in. He chats about the castle and the O’Carrols and then gives you flashlights to navigate the tower. Everything there is upcycled. This is a really cool experience. Price is very cheap (in 2022) at €6 each. Worth 5x more.

The Leap castle was something that I really wanted to see during my visit to Ireland. We went there on Sunday. Unfortunately it’s closed on Sundays. Even though on google said that it was open. When I called to cross check the men who answered was so polite and sad that couldn’t help me. He even said that the security is not there otherwise he would have opened the castle. I really cannot describe how polite and good humans Irelands are. I wish that if I go again I will manage to visit.

Great old castle that Sean is in the process of rebuilding.
He gave us a great talk on the history of the castle and even entertained us with his tin whistle.

This is the real thing, a really atmospheric place! Seán and the castle brought me back centuries much better than any audio visual experience. His dedication to the preservation of this building is most impressive. If you'd like a non-touristy visitor experience, it's highly recommended.

Sean is a great host and really made the castle come to life with its history and his graciousness. He also played some music for us. Lovely castle and a lovelier owner.
