The Castelvecchio Agricultural Estate is located in Terricciola, a hilltop village in the Tuscan province of Pisa which originated as an Etruscan hamlet settled over the Sterza waterway where the Era and Cascina valleys converge. The 59 acre (24 hectare) estate property is divided into land for sowing, olive and fruit groves, of which six are vineyard. The nucleus of the original estate, a charming farmhouse and its surrounding land, has been inhabited and cultivated by the Pantani family since 1956. Love for the land is something that is handed down from generation to generation. In 2002, Claudia, the youngest daughter, and her stone mason brothers and cousins decided to rally together to resume the cultivation of wine on their estate. The entire family got engaged in the enterprise, finding solutions to challenges and realizing the project together, with the labor of their own hands. The vineyard was planted and winery built, wooden doors hand-carved, and frames constructed for the cane mats to dry grapes for Vin Santo. Attention has been given to every last detail with dedicated family "know how" and loving care. Castelvecchio is the realization of a dream and the fruition of a passion. Our characteristic wines express our respect for the soil, the nature of our local traditions, and the dignity of our careful work in the vineyard and winery to create top quality wine.

We enjoyed a lovely impromptu tour (in English) of this young (in vineyard terms) family winery, and saw a little behind the scenes of the wine and vintage santo making process. We also tasted their white, rose, two reds (one blend) and their vin Santo...More

We visited Castelvecchio at around 18.30 and they closed at 7pm however they didn't bat an eyelid at the time and were happy to chat away. I would highly recommend their almond biscotti dipped in the desert wine!

Azienda Agricola Castelvecchio was a memorable hi-lite on our recent trip. Driving the narrow winding roads through the beautiful Tuscan countryside trip to this family was well worth it, even in the rain! We learned a lot about the local area and how the grapes...More

We landed up one evening just before closing time and without any booking. However, nothing was too much trouble. We had a lovely tour and a very enjoyable wine tasting. This is a family run business and one which we would strongly recommend.

Very friendly place with both white, rose and red wines. Not one of the best red wines in Tuscany (very subjective of course) but well worth a visit - beautiful area - and the wines will for sure get better and better the older the...More
