This was a great morning! Juan Carlos was phenomenal! I so appreciated his knowledge and assistance in learning about not only the ruins, but the Mayan culture as well. It was a great experience.

Price was excellent! I can not praise our tour guide "Juan Carlos" enough. He gave amazing running dialog during the entire day. Total personal touch applied. Lots of local interest stories and histories; very deep knowledge of Mayan history and culture that was delivered in...More

We booked our excursion through Royal Caribbean cruise lines and had a wonder time. Our guide - Carolina was so interesting and informative. She explained during our bus ride to the ruins about the local culture and how the Mayans came to settle in the...More

It was an amazing excursion for our family. We did the Ruins and beach time with a meal and it was well worth our time and money! We drove on a nice charter bus and were given bottled water on many occasions. Our tour guide...More

Our trip was excellent! Diego gave a great tour of the ruins but the best part was the Lagoon. Amazing water and very secluded!

I highly recommend this Carnival shore excursion. The buses are air conditioned, water is provided before and after the tour, light snack is provided, and the tour guides are very knowledgeable. My family and I did this excursion early May so the heat and bugs...More

We decided to do the Chacchoben tour through native choice during our cruise to Costa Maya and would highly recommend it if you are doing the ruins tour. Through Native Choice they get you to the ruins quickly before many of the other tourists. It...More

We traveled to the Chacchoben Ruins with Native Choice Tours. The trip to the ruins went through a Mayan community. Pineapple fields and roadside stands were plentiful. 'The Place of Red Corn" is a settlement by the Maya. It is estimated at 200BC and the...More

Our group of seven were treated with drinks, pineapple and chili powder, (delicious!) and a very descriptive and intelligent tour of the Mayan Ruins in Costa Maya, Mexico by Juan-Carlos. He was very sweet, friendly, very knowledgeable about the history and local agriculture, and eager...More

Not nearly as beautifully built as Chichen Itza, but very interesting to walk by unexcavated ruins waiting to be restored. Tour guides were not quite as informative as Chichen Itza, but you still learned interesting facts.

My 84 year old parents will be with us. They really want to see the Chacchoben Ruins. My mom tires easily and is not always steady on her feet, but does okay on even ground. Can anyone advise if this excursion would be okay for her?

It is a very flat trail but about an hour of walking. Anyone who needs assistance walking will find it a bit challenging. I use a cane and was able to do it because I am fit (age 62). I understand there are other ruins that... More
We will be on a rci cruise in November and I'be always wanted to see the Mayan ruins. I understand that officially the cruise line states that for this excursion they advise anyone with mobility concerns to avoid this , however, in these reviews I see others who have used a cane while there say they enjoyed it very much. My questions are: is there anywhere to sit for a short break while at the ruins ( even just steps, anywhere that I might rest my knees a few moments) and do you feel you are missing out if you cannot climb them?

I forgot... there's only one place where you're allowed to climb the ruins. You won't miss much if you can't climb them. Lots of photo ops right on the ground.
Would you recommend taking children on this trip?

We took our 9 and 4-year-old and they very much enjoyed it. Our kids have traveled a lot, so they've become used to listening to the history of a place. The oldest understood the history and loved looking at the ruins. We... More
