Trekking in the winter
Mar 2021 • Family
The highest peak of Bieszczady mountains. With children it took as to get there with them from parking in Wolosate around 3 hours. In the winter and early spring worth to have crampons for shoes for better stabilization but lot of people reached the peak and backed without. Parking costs 12 PLN. Worth to know that on the way there is no any shelter thus need to equipped in water and food. View is astonishing in the winter.

Easy trail for everybody, don't expect miracles
Sep 2020
Highest peak of Bieszczady in PL. We have started from Wołosate on very good parking (clean toilets, bar) for a reasonable price 18 PLN (4 EUR). Access to the park and trail is 500 meters up the road for 8 PLN (3,5 EUR). The ticket is valid for whole day everywhere there. The trail is badly damaged in steep parts. Pretty good views but IMO there are some places there with better views.

Tarnica
May 2019
This is the highest peak of Polish part of Bieszczady (the other parts are in Ukraine and a small bit in Slovakia). It is also the fifth highest peak on Crown of Polish Mountains list of highest peaks of every mountain range in the country. Central part of Bieszczadzki Park Narodowy (Bieszczady national park). Although only one marked trail leads to the top of Tarnica, there are many, that cross each other on the pass just below the summit. Most popular trail leads from the former village of Wołosate - it's the shortest but arguably the steepest of them all. There's also another one from Wołosate, but running the long way, climbing pretty much all peaks in Worek Tarnicy (Tarnica sack) group of mountains. Other options of climbing are mainly from the north, and are much longer - would take the whole day for experienced hikers. Tarnica is one of the most superb viewing points in Polish mountains, provided clouds are hanging high enough, as it is famous for it's bad weathers. Last time I climbed it in may 2019 my app to recognise summits showed mountains in Romania, some 130 km away - it was propably something to do with that app, don't believe such long distance view is at all possible. The mounatin became a focal point in media recenty, due to new facilities on most popular trail, namely gravel/wooden "stairs", made by national park authorities, which apparently draw even bigger crowds towards to this place, but it seems like those had been accepted since, and noone is making a fuss about them anymore.
