Beautiful views, good path and fresh air. You can walk towards the mountains (there's a lagoon on the way a nice peaceful spot to sit) or you can walk all the way down to the beach which can be pretty stunning at sunset. Park to...More

Lovely scenery, firm stepping stones, natural resources and a breath of fresh air on the way. There was the river on one side, mountains up ahead and mainzeal works on the left.

The Otaki River has a delightfully remote feeling and yet is still so close to town and SH1. There is nothing quite like coming back from Wellington, popping on togs and finding your favourite swimming hole. From the chill of the river at the Otaki...More

You can start the walk by the Otaku river bridge and walk in either direction. Personally we prefer to walk up stream as it has a nice little forestry but and a pretty section with a picnic bench by the river that you can stop...More

Nice walk if you follow the river on the rocks .... But then you'll need good walking shoes ! If you follow only the trail we found it unfortunate that for a long time you don't see the river !! Nice views of the mountain.

Walked this on a sunny Winter's day and loved the variety of scenery and native trees planted along the river. Delightful 2 hour walk.
