Very impressive fortification. Unfortunatly only a part of it is accesible during Christmas Holiday period.

The walls of the Citadel are massive rising above the center of town. We went on the guided tour (guided via headphones) which was available in French, English and German. In the various rooms there were short film sequences which made the War of 1870-71 come to life. Definitely worth a visit.

Long and powerful it is a huge gun platform and fortress controlling the surrounding countryside. Full of Franco-Prussian history and good views. Entry includes headsets triggered at relevant locations. The Citadel visit is a self-guided audio tour. You walk through the citadel and are guided through the story of the famous siege and wars with commentary and video.
