Quiet atmosphere shrine that has great dragon carving on the torii gate
4.0 of 5 bubblesJun 2021
The shrine is located on a small hill near Shinbamba station. If you take the Keikyu line and look out the window on the west side of the train, you will surely see it. It is not a particularly gorgeous shrine, and because it is surrounded by residential areas, there are not many worshippers except during the New Year's visit and festivals, and it is quiet. The torii gate on the east side of the shrine has a magnificent dragon carving on it, giving it an imposing appearance. The stairs from the torii to the hall of worship are quite steep, so it is best to use the handrail to climb up and down if necessary. There is a Fujizuka on the shrine precincts, which was built in connection with the Fuji faith, but has now become one of the observatories from which you can view the city from the shrine precincts.

The area
Address
Neighbourhood: Shinagawa / Gotanda
In Shinagawa, an office district shares space with luxury residential buildings and the scene is constantly changing with rapid development. Ikedayama park and Togoshi park are great places to see beautiful traditional Japanese gardens with ponds, as well as enjoy the changing seasons. Shinagawa was a post and a port town during the Edo era and the lavish old Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples at Shinagawa and Ebara are very popular. It's a great place to get in touch with the old Edo atmosphere on a pleasure boat cruising along the canal. The neighboring area around Gotanda station is a study in modern contrasts filled with unique restaurants and a lively nightlife.

This is a shrine located in a walking distance from Shinagawa station.
Here has a mountain( or could be hill ) whose elevation is 15M, called Fuji-zuka.
In Japan, Fujisan has been deified from people and said that climbing the top, elevation 3776M would give sacred power to the visitor.
Here only has a 15M, so good cost-performance.
Visitors can enter the mountain from an intermediate way of stairs to the shrine. Markers of Gou No.1 to No.5 can be look over with a single glance (Gou means the percentage of the way to top and divided to 10, 10th means the top.).
The view from the top has buildings only, usual sight, but somehow I felt nice.
In the precinct, there is Inari Jinja which has a promenade with Red Torii.
There is a spring at the bottom of the promenade, named 一粒萬倍(Ichi Ryu Man Bai).
This means the spring multiplies something by 10,000.
Ordinally people having their own business bring this water and sprinkle it to their shop.
A visitor guy put it on his hair.

A small but quaint shine close to Shinagawa Station. Nothing particularly spectacular about this shrine as there are many larger ones in Tokyo. Nevertheless, if you’re around the area it would make a nice detour.

A Lovely little shrine nestled in Shinagawa
along hwy 15
Don’t let the steep steps discourage you
You can also take the road to the right up to the shrine area
Pilgrimages may have stopped here on the route to Kyoto

Lovely little shrine, a peaceful and green enclave to visit. Don’t miss the smaller steps up to the left. Plenty deities to choose from!

I walked by this temple many times going to/from train station. It has a long history and not crowded so you can take your time reading and looking.

If you are in Shinagawa you shouldn’t miss it. In the middle of the town it is really lovely and without any noise.

We had half a day to spare so we decided to head to this shrine and we were pleasantly surprised by how quiet and quaint it was. It's a small shrine with lots of steps leading up to it and they have a mini set of tori gates leading to one of the small worship shrines.

Visited Jan 3, there is quite many people visiting for the 7 Lucky Gods pilgrimage (starting with this shrine). The concrete steps going up are quite steep. This shrine is designated by Emperor Meiji as a place of worship to pray for the Japan prosperity.
