The area
Address
Neighbourhood: Odaiba / Shiodome / Shinbashi
Odaiba is an entertainment hotspot with a giant ferris wheel, concert halls, amusement arcades and lots of shopping. It also boasts Oedo-onsen-monogatari, a hotspring that recreates old Edo-era ambiance and is very popular with foreign visitors. Shiodome has ultra-modern office buildings where you can often find restaurants with a great high-rise view of Tokyo. The neighboring area of Shinbashi is a district of much older commercial buildings and it's a great place to join 'salary men' enjoying a drink and snacks at street stalls under the railway bridges after work.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

there is a cute little puppy up at the top sometimes... there are a lot of stairs here that have a legend behind them. I've seen the shrine at all four seasons, and it is always beautiful. don't miss the cheese shop nearby and the nhk museum which is free.

ここは、出世の神様が祀られている有名な神社です。
石段がかなり急勾配なので、心して登って下さい。ただ、その先には都会のオアシスが待ってます。
Here is enshgning the promation of career god and famous temple.
The stone step is extermaly steep slope so keeping mind set for climing but climing done to the top will be seeing healing things.

Just a short walk from we’re I was staying came across shrine , it’s not easy to find , it as many steps and is very step , not good for old or for people have difficulty walking 🚶‍♂️ but there is a road you can drive up , it looks out of place because it’s hundreds of years old surrounded by tall modern buildings , pond with carp , lovely and green with a few beautiful old buildings well worth looking at

Stayed at Tokyo Rei next to Atago, we want to go to attractions close so we went to Atago

It's less than 1 min walk, my girls (3 and 5) climbed up the stairs.

Nice Japanese view on top, we are lucky the flower were blooming as well.

Recommend to go up there then go to Tokyo Tower (less than 5 min taxi ride)

One of the steepest set of stairs you'll ever see. It's a lot of fun to climb. You'd better be in good shape, though. On top is a shrine with a koi pond. Their koi fish are the best. So much fun to feed them. Koi food sold for 100yen.

An easy spot to visit without large crowds, this a pleasant, small shrine complex that can be reached from more than one side of its hilltop perch. Peaceful and complete, there are several spots where a visitor can pause, reflect, or meditate... or just delight in its beauty.

This is a very old famous shrine on the top of Mt. Atago. It is up high, so take the elevator if needed. The weekday that I was there, many locals were worshipping. In fact, there was a line. It is a serious place. The koi pond was especially lovely. There was also a small public teahouse that looked inviting.

If one does not know much about Japanese history or culture, this place can be a mystery. There are a few signs in English, but they do not tell enough. It is a beautiful place, but one misses out on the true meaning of it all if one does not understand the background of this shrine (that was us). We spent about 30 minutes here, admiring the garden and the buildings and walking up the steps (it supposed to bring good luck) and then we left.

The first thing that you notice when approaching this place is the intimidating steep stone steps leading up to the temple. It is hard work going up and probably down the steps and be careful doing that or a slip on the steps could result in a nasty injury. The reward on reaching the top is great though as the views looking down on the area is incredible. The shrine itself is beautiful and the locals were queuing up to say a prayer to the god worshipped here. If you don't fancy going up the steps don't worry as there is another more pleasant way of reaching the temple.
