Prior to our Japan visit, we read about the wonderful food floors in the major department stores. We weren't prepared for what we experienced when visiting Mitsukoshi's 2 basement take-out food floors. "Overwhelmed" and "stunned" would be adjectives to describe our reaction to the huge...More

This is a lovely department store and although prices in Japan are crazy it's great for window shopping (and actual shopping if you can stretch to it!). The food hall is exquisite- go see the square watermelons on sale for 150 Euros! Salads are fabulous,...More

Mitsukoshi departmental stall is one of the bigger shopping malls in Ginza, which consist of 10 levels of shopping levels and the top 3 level of eatery. Very busy, especially on the weekend.

I am not a big shopper but I enjoy walking down the aisles of Mitsukoshi. There is something anthropologically interesting in watching the crowds moving along the endless floors of luxury brands in a almost choreographed way. Doing that on a weekend is even crazy....More

Ginza / Tokyo Nihonbashi
Ginza is famous for being a trendy hotspot, but it's
also a downtown area with shops that were founded over
a hundred years ago. Department stores and luxury
boutiques line the route from Nihonbashi to Ginza.
It's a long established tradition to shop and stroll
while the road is closed to traffic. Luxury hotels,
world class cuisine from talented chefs, and a
collection of glitzy clubs will make this area popular
