Address
Neighbourhood: Ochanomizu / Akihabara / Kanda
Ochanomizu boasts its academic foundations starting with Yushima Seido, the birthplace of modern day Japanese education. The area has kept its college town feel with several university campuses. If you head towards Jinbocho, you'll find musical instrument and sports equipment shops, and an area of used bookstores for students and anyone interested in literature and the arts. Akihabara is well-known for its computer and electronic goods stores, and is now hugely popular as the must-visit mecca for people interested in anime and games. Kanda is an office district where you can find loads of reasonably priced izakayas popular with professionals who stop to eat and drink before making their way home.

Go to same area in Shenzhen. Goods are much expensive here. There are many displays no child should see.

For me, Akihabara is heaven on earth. Haha. I just love everything about this place. Akihabara is a place to be for manga & anime lovers... or for those who just love shopping for electronic gadgets etc. I've been here many times and I just can't get enough of Akihabara.

Fascinating in a strange way
Nov 2019
Akihabara is primarily seen as the center of modern Japanese culture and the main shopping area for video games, anime, manga and various electronics. Icons from popular anime and manga abound in advertising everywhere. Here you will also find countless "maid cafés" and many young girls in various outfits who turn their voices into something they most likely think sounds sweet - to promote shops and cafes. There is something about this area that is quite fascinating albeit in a slightly strange way. It looks innocent on the surface and a lot is certainly so too. If you look a little closer, it's still easy to see that the difference between "innocent-anime" and let`s call it "adult-anime" flows a little into each other.

a must!!

Even if you’re not an anime fan - this place is a must! Japanese culture is dominated by manga and anime, so to experience the real Japan, you need to be here at least once.
Akihabara always send a lot of info of new culture in Japan. The culture is animated cartoons, to enjoy wearing costumes and maid’s cafes.
In Akihabara, many electric stores and cartoon stores stand side by side. If you like some Japanese animations, this place is really wonderful- just like a paradise!!

You can easily get there by trains/ buses and subways.

A place for the imaginative
Oct 2019
Perhaps because its a megacity some neighborhoods in Tokyo can become quite specific with an intended target audience. Around town one will find entire neighborhoods devoted to specific hobbies or interests.

Akihabara is one such neighborhood, with a focus on all things electronics, video games, anime, and manga. Here you will find alternating electronic and manga shops for blocks, with the occasional maid cafe and video game arcade thrown in for good measure.

Magical wizards seek out Harry Potter's fictional Diagon alley. Tech wizards only have to travel to the real world Akihabara neighborhood.

There is a LOT to see and do for otaku, plenty of cafes and merchandise stores. I'd suggest having a plan beforehand of what you'd like to get done.

Curious place
Aug 2019
Tons of electronic shops, tons of manga shops, tons of game centers.. lots of people up and down, some of them dressed in costumes. Girls (too young?) inviting you to go for a tea in the bar (just a tea!). For lot of people it's a must go. For me.. it's a very interesting place to walk around (I have no interest on manga). In any case, there are lots of restaurants and fun things to do. It's a nice area to stay when you're in Tokyo.

Tokyo Electric Town!
May 2019
Akihabara is well known as Japan Electric Town. The area is very interesting and fascinating with neon lights. There is a big building - Yodobashi outside the train station sells all types of camera and other electrical products.
Also, theme cafes are very popular in this area. Local street food is cool too. Should try.
