We popped up to Gretna, to say we'd been whilst staying in Kendal. Whilst heading to Hadrians Wall we saw signs for this museum. I'd forgotten it was here. Stopped briefly to get some pics over the fence as the signs said it was closed. A volunteer saw and invited me in for a quick look around. Very helpful and friendly volunteers, still keen to show the aircraft and talk about them. Even directed me to a better park of the wall and a good brewery (Hawkshead) near where we're staying. Great to see genuine and helpful people with the aircraft. Also appeared to be work going on with a number of aircraft. …

Visited here with a friend and my 9 year old son. There is an excellent variety of civilian and military aircraft including a Vulcan which is impressive. You can access to the inside of the Vulcan which I would recommend. There is also an indoor exhibition and the staff here were extremely helpful explaining things to my curious 9 year old. There is also a cut away section of a BA trident where you can see the cockpit of this classic aircraft.…

This aircraft a Fairy Gannett operated out of Cumbria many years ago and now is returning home for restoration.

Visited in summer 2019, impressed with the friendly welcome and the range of exhibits on view. Particularly enjoyed the Blue Streak and Spadeadam room and also the guided tour of the interior of the Avro Vulcan parked nearby.

Great place with plenty of variation in aircraft etc both inside and out. Worth a revisit at a future date.
