Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We spend quite a lot of time in Dunmore East, especially during the summer months and sometimes the place is so awash with tourists that the real character of the village is distorted; however a trip to Hayes [especially when there is music on] is the perfect way to round off the day. The pub has not been ‘made over’ it is very plain and functional inside and but for the fact that ‘minimalist’ suggests some degree of planning, this place has a very ordinary interior. What makes it so wonderful is that the locals are wedded to the pub and love playing musica and singing great songs. There is nothing stagey about the music sessions, they just happen. People wander into the pub, some with instruments and some just with their voices and the magic starts. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is terrific. The owner loves music and hence the local musicians appreciate the warm welcome. The loos are spotlessly clean and everything works as it should. If Bord Failte want people to see the real Ireland then this place is it.

This bright yellow thatched roof pub up on the hill was all that I imagined a local Irish pub in a small town would be. The Character of the place was visible from the first glance. Low ceilings, small doorways, exposed beams, Aggie's photo, all the memorabillia. Richard sang beautiful Irish songs and an explanation of the pubs history made this 3 hours go in a flash. Still run by her family. Aggie must have been really something else, but todays visit was a real hoot.l Go there you will not be sorry you did.

Came here for a drink and it was a great night. Music by local lad on banjo. Great voice and a lovely bar. Really homely. Owners pat and Teresa lovely. Family run bar. Better than every other place we had been to in Dunmore

Quite the story behind the pub and the 'grumpy' woman who owned it, only let in people she knew and women were not allowed as 'they should not be there'. Listened to a great singer, but I am partial to local musicians. Located in a tiny town with a view of the oldest working light house in the world.

Our tour group came here and we joined the locals in an evening of singing and drinking. This pub IS THE REAL THING - WITH SUCH FRIENDLY FOLKS. The pub is full of ambiance. The waitstaff were great. The live music was awesome!

Warm, friendly, & cozy: this best describes Hays to a new visitor or a frequent patron. Hayes is the place to enjoy the crowd. the servers, and best of all, the beverages. Gotta do Hayes on every trip!!!

We dropped in for a drink on the way back to our accomodation following a swim it was early evening and there were only a few people in the bar. The pub itself is very well appointed in the traditional style, the proprietor was friendly and it made for a very pleasant atmosphere. There is music there on some evenings and this makes for a fun evening. Highly recommended.

Travel out of Dunmore East as if you were heading to the Passage East ferry and you will find Hayes Pub on the right. It looks like a film set "Irish Pub" but it's the real deal.

Aggie Hayes Pub, a traditional Irish pub is located at Killea, just outside the Village of Dunmore East. This area also has several lovely thatched cottages. Aggie’s tiny bright yellow thatched roof pub has been owned and run by the same family for over 300 years. Richie Roberts, a traditional Irish folk singer entertained us for a couple of hours. Great singe and entertainer. Before stopping at the pub he gave us a tour of Dunmore East, a charming little fishing port and seaside resort on the southern coast near the mouth of Waterford Harbour. Lovely views of coves, hamlets and coastline from the original harbour wall can be seen from this point. A Romanesque lighthouse guards one side of the Barrow, the other side is watched over by Hook Head, a lighthouse situated at the tip of Hook Peninsular.

Went to Aggie Hayes Pub & has a wonderful time. Richie Roberts performed for our group & he was definitely a treat!! He has a beautiful voice & very funny as well. I chatted up a few of the locals who were very friendly & welcoming. The beer is ice cold & the ambience is laid back & a lot of fun. It’s definitely worth checking out.
