Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

we are two historians and the husband of one and three of us visited the Museum and were very pleasantly surprised. The staff were very helpful and extremely pleasant. The historian, Seamus, could not have been more helpful looking for Coast Guard material of us for mid-nineteenth century. It was great. Many thanks.

The test for any Museum is if you have enough time to sea read everything, we will have to call again. The stories and history within this building were fascinating. The Virtual Reality display was really good. Another gem on the Wild Atlantic Way.

A wee gem. What a great place. The building is located right inside the harbour and it is interesting to observe the work of the boats all around. Well worth a visit because there is so much to be seen in the museum. Extraordinary staff, so friendly and welcoming, I definitely recommend it.

Very interesting museum to visit, can thoroughly recommend a visit and also combining the Planetarium too. It was quiet when we went, so we got a choice of show to watch in the Planetarium. The staff were very friendly and helpful, giving some additional information about the Armada artefacts.

Kids loved the planetarium and it was good for a rainy day activity on our holiday. The museum had lots of interesting things but our children were a little too young for taking in the information so we rushed around it a bit, as such we probably didn’t get value for our family ticket into museum part - I think adults could spend longer reading all the information. It would be good if in the future there was investment to add some more interactive elements for children - knot tying, paper boat making, labelling up parts of a boat and things that they can touch.

The museum is very educational and covers a number of topics. It gives a very good overview and insight into the relationship Greencastle has with the sea. There is a delightful tea room linked to the museum.
Well worth the visit. We'll done Greencastle.

Myself and my partner did the coastal walk from Moville to Greencastle and called in here for a nosey. We ended up staying hours. We loved it. So interesting and educational. Absolutely loved the virtual reality experiences, it was fantastic and is a must try if you are visiting. We finished off with a pint of Guinness in the Ferryport Bar. A wonderful day.

Myself and my husband decided to take our 3 kids on a trip along the Wild Atlantic Way during the Halloween break. We picked a few attractions along the way (weather permitting of course) but the place that we enjoyed the most was the Inishowen Maritime Museum and Planetarium in Greencastle, Co. Donegal.
It was a cold wet day when we reached the coastal village of Greencastle but even on a wet day it looked very pretty. On entering the museum we were welcomed by a lovely young lady and informed of the various attractions available to us. Most welcoming to us was the offer of hot chocolate topped with marshmallows for the kids and two cappuccinos for ourselves (with a choice of scones, tray bakes or cake). We decided to take advantage of the Planetarium which it was explained to us that has now become a new state of the art digital theatre. As our kids varied in ages from 3 -11 we decided that the Enchanted Reef based show would be of interest to all of us. Prior to the show starting we were also shown tailors of Sea Monsters and Dynamic Earth and also a preview of the Stars at night which captured real time night sky for those interested in the planets. Believe it or not our 3 year old actually sat through the whole show as I think he was encapsulated by the fact he was watching a film on the ceiling of the dome theater. We all enjoyed the show(s) immensely and spent a very pleasant afternoon walking around the rest of the Museum. I can willing say that we would recommend the Inishowen Maritime Museum and Planetarium as a place to visit if you are looking for something new that all the family can enjoy and we look forward to visiting the Museum and the Inishowen Peninsula again in the Summer months.

This local museum is filled with information on local ships and crews. It is well done and extremely interesting. A wonderful place to spend a rainy Irish afternoon.
