Best Surfing place to go to!

Great place to surf and watch beautiful sunsets! Try the restaurant that is in front of EL Tunco rock, you will not regret it.

As much as I want to keep this rustic little beach town the secret that it is, I feel I must share how amazing it is as the locals rely on tourism for their livelihoods. I have travelled the world and El Tunco is in my top 3 favourite places in the world!

Great place to for peace and quiet and to enjoy some surfing. Very chill place with just enough to be comfortable but no distractions.

Very close to San Salvador, you can make it a day trip which is what we did since were not going in party mode but traveling with out one year old. It is a surfing town but also a place to hang out with bars, restaurants and quaint shops. We parked on a private lot for $2.00. There is not... More

This is a nice little town with plenty of bars and plenty of time to relax. There are a plethora of eating places and adverts for 'happy hour' are on virtually every Bill board. We stayed at the El Tunco Lodge, which is in the centre of town....but nothing is too far away. This is a surf town with a... More

El Tunco is this neat beach town in El Salvador that is popular with locals and surfers. The beach is not the best for swimming due to the larger rocks but there are great restaurants and it is very relaxing. If you have the chance come here. I stopped in El Tunco to break up the long shuttle ride from... More

We stayed two nights in El Tunco. Probably good for pro surfers, not a place for other people. ATMs don't accept European cards even though they claim they are welcome. We had to travel into La Libertad to get money out. Beach is rocky and has no spots for lying down. Shops close early, local people are not friendly towards... More

Nice place to get away to do something. Several restaurants to choose from. Little shops to look at. Secured entrance and exit. It's really not a place for swimming or hanging at the beach very rocky.

if your looking for a relaxing place to lay and read and listen to the waves, do your research before coming down to the coast. boulders from the water to the pavement.. seemed to be a few breaks that a lot of surfers were hanging around waiting for... but not enough for the breaks not to be jam packs with...
