Nice and tasty experience

We booked a tour for 10 people including (perfect!!!) English translation and some cheese tasting afterwards. It was very nice to hear and see some details you normally don’t get to know in the regular TV reports. Including details about acid measurements and lactic acid bacteria. Very nice and not boring in any moment! The tasting of 4 different cheeses in the end had plenty to eat including bread, honey and a bit of red wine. Delicious! The cheese is actually really cheap, they have also small cheeses to take on the plane, or actually any amount you would like to take they will cut for you and vacuum seal.

I have now been here a few times as I have found the tuada cheese to be one of the best cheeses in the Garfagnana! Excellent

Fantastic experience

The cheese maker took a lot of time to really show and describe the cheese making process and was very excited to answer all of our questions. The tasting at the end was very generous and the cheeses superb!

All you need is Cheese

This family owned and operated cheese factory is hidden away and easy to miss if you didn't know it was there. On Wednesday and Friday mornings you can join the in the process of making cheese along with a two hour tour. We didn't find out about the location until after the tour. We called and asked if we could stop by, and the owner Verano Bertagni met us personally to show us around. It was a wonderful tour and any place that would take the time to entertain us with no notice is a great business and cares for its customers.
We got to see the whole process and try out several different cheese. They make cheese from cows, sheep, and goats. The milk gathered fresh from local farmers. Mr Bertagni didn't charge us for the tour since there was no cheese being made at the time we visited. Again, a great experience. You can buy cheese, pasta, and other Italian cuisine at their store after the tasting. While we were there, several locals stopped by to grab some cheese, demonstrating how good his products are. We loved his prize winning "Tuada" cheese and bought some for ourselves and friends. I highly recommend visiting here if you are in Garfagnana.
