Fascinating Etruscan tombs
Sep 2021
There are 6,000 tombs of which you can enter some 40 all of which have painted murals. They are fascinating and well worth visiting. Only 6 euros to enter.

So old and so bright
Aug 2020
The Tarquinian necropolis offers a clear view of how the Etruscans imagined Heaven would be like. Crawling down stairs you get into burials chambers of over 2500 years old. The drawings look Greek and Roman at the same time and are breathtaking..

Amazing Paintings
Jul 2019 • Friends
I would have never imagined that central Italy could have so an ancient history, even more ancient than the Romans! The Etruscan civilization is really interesting and the frescos they left are unbelievable! Amazing colors and subterrenian tombs embellished with paintings!!! The guided visit of the necropolis of Montarozzi is a must!

The best etruscan paintings
Feb 2020
After visiting the local museum, using a collective ticket for both , visit the necropolis with the best paintings ever made by etruscans. well kept tombs will give you a vision of the old times. don't forget to take with you hat and glasses since it may be very hot even on winter.

Interesting burial ground of the Etruscans
Feb 2020
The park is full of the Etruscan Burial sites. Each one is labeled before you descend into the chamber full of Etruscan wall murals and a timed light to spend as much time as you want gazing at these paintings from BC.
We bought the ticket which included the Archeological Museum of Tarquinia, well worth the 20€ for both.
We arrived by Cotral bus from Civitavecchia (in front of Cattedrale di S. Francesco d’Assisi). Buy tickets at Tobacco Stores before.

Etruscan Necropoli at Tarquinia
Jan 2020
Very different from the Etruscan necropoli at Cerveteri, but just as interesting. The landscape is remarkable, as is entering the various tombs. Many have well-preserved frescoes, but some are hard to view through the climate-control system - sealed by plexiglass.

A stunning discovery of a lesser known ancient civilization
Jan 2020
We visited the necropolis in January, and enjoyed it a lot. We never had the opportunity to look at Etruscan art before, and we were very impressed by the discovery.
Each tomb has been kept as close as possible from its original state; therefore, to see each chamber, you need to go down some underground stairs. This, in our opinion heightened the feeling of discovery, but may not be everyone's taste.
The degree of preservation of the frescoes is breathtaking, and the beauty of Etruscan colors and figures awed us.
Definitely give it a shot if you feel you need a change from white marble :)

This is a must see---Excellent
Oct 2019
It is easy to focus on just Rome when in Italy, but if you have time a trip to this area is wonderful. You will see olive groves being worked as they have for centuries and beautiful countryside. The Necropolis is an exceptional place to visit. The upper grounds are beautiful and the excavations underground to the burial chambers of the ancient Etruscan people opens up an entirely different world. Frescoes and evidence of how these people lived are just amazing, and all about 15 feet underground. You can visit several chambers and the museum at the end has an incredible collection of Etruscan artifacts, pottery and items from everyday living. You can see the influence of the Greeks on these people who predated the Romans. The artwork on the pottery and jewelry items is a wonder. The black pottery is unique and shows just how advanced these people were.
The steps down into the chambers are steep and dimly lit to preserve the colors of the frescoes. This is not a place for mobility impaired.

Interesting ancient graves.

If one has interest in the lives and deaths of the Estruscian people, this is a must! Use the combined ticket for the Etruscian museum in the city to get the full picture and experience.
