Marvellous mise en scène

I am not a particular train fan, but I loved the mise en scène on the upper floor. For train lovers, must be even more of a treat. Well worth the visit.

An absolute must for anybody interested in trains and toys, Stunning collection and incredibly detailed O-gauge (1/43) layout. My ten-year old daughter spent hours looking at it... and she does not give much of a hoot about trains! Á ne pas manquer ! Ma fille (dix ans) ne pouvait pas s´arrêter d´admirer les incroyables deuils ... et elle s´entiche de... More

The Rambolitrain is a Cheap little museum about toy train right next to the St Lubin's church. The staging is quite impressive and the showcase are interactive.

Saw this advertised so had a visit, despite no interest in trains. Very well presented, good history, and a wonderful masive train 'set' on the top floor. Entrance charge very reasonable.

I had the feeling to be a kid again....Just enjoy this incredible collection. Spend enough time and don't hesitate to come back to a room to discover all the details. Not far away from the railway if you come from Paris (10 minutes walk).

We visited this lovely museum from Paris, an easy journey by train. The museum is about twenty minutes walk from the station, in the square by the church. Be aware that it shuts for lunch promptly at 12. There are two floors, the first floor has cases of models showing the history of railways, and my husband was delighted as... More

This little museum is a beautiful little gem. Yes it is little but it is so well pit together and detailed. The collection is amazing and could really benefit from more space. A bad note to who I think is the manager of this place who I heard make the most misogynistic comments to a young female on internship. Sir... More

To begin with, beautifully presented model trains from wwI on. Incredible collection, with buildings, sgnals, people etc. A thorough history of French trains. Well documented in French and in English. On the top floor was a layout, e tirely done by hand, which took 30 years to create: all sprts of trains, every possible detail. Scenic recreations including the Gare... More

I went to Rambouillet on 2 Oct 2011 which happened to be the day of annual special events. Every year, the 1st week of October is showcased with specials - vintage car rides, mini train ride (special), discounted access to museums, parks, sheep house. The train museum hosts the vintage cars show & ride. There is also a mini train... More
