We arrived very close to closing time and were greeted by friendly staff, did a quick shoot around the museum, lots of reading and very interesting exhibits. A must see if you into History. Very informative.

Worth a visit if you have an interest in the Boer War. Many exhibits and much information. Dioramas and interactive displays help you to understand battles.

Our visit to this museum was recommended by a local guide. It was worth every cent - it really needs time as so much to see and read. Had not appreciated that Mahatma Ghandhi had participated in the events around Spion Kop either til we visited this museum !

I had some time to spare before heading to Nambiti, so I popped into this museum. It was very well thought out, and allows you to understand the Boer War around Ladysmith and not just the siege. Lots of detailed exhibitions and some very good old photographs. I also loved their collection of old uniforms. Well worth an hour's visit,... More

I never realised how interested I am in the Boer War! This museum is actually quite inspirational, and it has driven me to read up about all aspects of South African history, a fascinating study. I thought that the layout was very good, with detailed information about the exhibits, and wonderful old photographs.

If you happened to be in Ladysmith then worth a visit but not worth a trip down from Dundee. The museum is a bit tired, largely concerned with the siege itself rather than giving any broader overview of the conflict, very detailed and generally lacks impact.

Great little museum and you get the whole picture of the boer wars. I knew very little about the involvement of ladysmith and so it was really educational. There is a big public car park behind ( not directly behind) we parked on the front where a man (as they do) looked after it. This is not a big museum... More
