Relax and enjoy life
Mar 2017
The Grand Anse beach is a highly frequented BBQ and picnic area on weekends, but very chilled and relaxed during the week. The beach itself is not the best you can find on the island (we prefereed the ones of the west coast), but there are two nice kiosks where they serve food and beer, the good local "Dodo" as well as the terrific THB from Madagascar. Really nice to hang out - life could be worse.

Surprised and delighted
Aug 2017 • Family
On a windy and somewhat cloudy day we were looking for a beach with safe swimming. Having visited and given up on St. Pierre, we went to Grande Anse although we thought the man made swimming lagoon created rocks looked tiny on online photos and we were dismayed at the car park with all the restrictions notices, the best being "no leisure activities"! It was however a very sheltered and spectacular place to have a picnic and the to our delight, the man mad rock lagoon was much bigger than we thought. Lots of room to play and swim. Snorkelling was limited. The big waves crashing onto the rocks made it quite exhilarating. All round- much better than first impressions. Decent public toilets too. Bonus!

Not as quite as expected but great for a BBQ
Jul 2017 • Family
I'd read somewhere that this was a quiet and less visited beach....must have been an old review...We arrived around noon Friday and the beach was busy, the car park was full to the brim...but considering we're talking "Reunion packed" there was still plenty of space to be had on the beach.

BBQ pits line the sea front and there were plenty available so we had a great time cooking up food while watching huge waves crashing in on the coast line and beach.

The swimming lagoon was totally washed over with the waves that were coming in.

There's also a small coffee / sandwich shop in the car park so you can grab a bite to eat and ice creams there if you don't bring your own food.

We didn't swim it was simply not an option with the size of the waves and evident undertow.

Amazing beach
Feb 2017 • Solo
It’s a beautiful coral beach located at the foot of a hill appertaining to the Petite-Île municipality. It offers a nice view over the horizon and at dusk a great sunset can be observed from there on clear days. The landscape on the spot is fantastic, with palm trees and other vegetation making the stay there very pleasant. In order to swim in that beach water one must be aware of the sea currents, which may be strong and deep. That’s the reason why a bassin has been built with rocks in a part of that beach in which one can swim safely. Going beyond the boundaries of that bassin is therefore very dangerous and of course not at all advisable. It’s possible thus to bathe pleasantly in that beach water, the only drawback being the rocks at the bottom which prevent bathers from moving around freely. The site is peaceful and consequently apt to have there a great moment.

Best beach to relax in Réunion
Dec 2016 • Couples
Favourite beach to relax and for sunsets in Réunion. Coconut trees and a vast space for relaxing on the grass. The sunsets are amazing here. Great photo opportunities for silhouettes of coconut trees with a pink orange sunset. The beach is mostly used by locals for surfing and those who know the currents well, so I'd recommend swimming in the gorgeous volcanic rock pool and snorkelling there too as there's plenty of beautiful tropical fish there. There are three great snack bars there, the two smallest ones sell adelis ice cream - a Réunionese ice cream - I recommend to try the Pistachio flavour. The snack bar furthest (little one just as you enter car park) takes card payment. Also recommend a walk up the headland that overlooks the beach. You may see an the famous camouflage lizard of Réunion. Overall, great beach that feels like a tropical resort!

Nice place to rest
Nov 2016 • Couples
The beach itself is around 700m long and wide around 10m. The water is blue and it is boarded by cocotiers, bring you hamock!
There are 2 small bars and one of them offers something to eat also.
There are many parking lots.
I am here at this time, sunday 14:30pm and i searched a lot to find a place for my car. Strange but the beach is not very crowded!

Dissaponting beach
Dec 2014 • Couples
although the beach looks enticing from afar, up close the beach is pretty average and overrated imo. There are a lot of lava rocks all over to to the beach. A 'pool' has been created in the shallow sea water to keep sharks out, which creates a safe place for people to swim in.
