Old Fortress on top of a holl

It's worth a drive to visit the old fortress. It's high up on the hill where you will have a good view of old and new Gavi. The drive up the hill is interesting challenging due to... read more

We were staying at villa sparina for a relative's wedding and decided to come here for a visit. It was impromtu visit. The drive up the hill was challenging especially when there are cars coming down the hill at the same time! When we arrived, the tour group has just started in italian, but minutes later, an english speaker was... More

One of the best forts I have ever been to. They take very good care of it and it is totally different to seeing a castle. Located on top of a hill (also possible to drive up there) with a nice view over the little town Gavi. The city itself is very tiny but also taken care of very good... More

Great castle very impressive with fantastic views. Sadly closed while I'm here, but looks like it's open a lot more in the summer. Definitely worth a visit

Incredible and beautiful historical castel! I think that it is magic to live in Gavi and join this amazing view everyday! You can feel the fascination of history. Don't forget to visit it!

Last Sunday we set out on foot from the village of Gavi and we made it to the the top in about 20 minutes. There was not a soul around but we felt encouraged by a sign at the entrance of the parking stating: "open from 9.30 till 18"; unfortunately while it was 11.40 a big padlock was keeping it... More

It's worth a drive to visit the old fortress. It's high up on the hill where you will have a good view of old and new Gavi. The drive up the hill is interesting challenging due to the narrow road but it's quite worth a visit. The only thing you have to note is the 30 mins guided tour is... More

Huge fort high above Gavi. Well worth a visit if you don't mind the Italian guide (no entry if you don't do the tour) and the steep one car wide road to get there. Even if you don't speak Italian, 2 euros to have great views and some idea of what it looks like on the inside is well worth... More

At the top of the local hill with lots of interesting history. Shame though it would be good if there was more info in English.

A well preserved fortress, with a fascinating story and a stunning panorama from the top. Check the hours on the website to be sure that it's open, entrance is cheap and the guides are passionate.
