Local and loved by locals
Feb 2020
This is a one-off, quirky outdoor spa with surrounding gardens, nestled in the charming town - actually more like a village of around 3000 people - of Casciana-Terme Lari which is very friendly and somewhat eccentric; my daughter and I had a lovely time sitting in the outdoor seating area of the Gran Cafe attached to the spa and overlooking the main piazza, sipping Prosecco and watching the world go by, including a lovely lady taking her cat for a leisurely stroll around the piazza - on a lead!

It would be wrong to compare this spa with luxury spas and / or with entirely medical spas - it's somewhat in-between and can't really be categorised; the whole point is that it is simple, straightforward, relatively basic but also actually a lot of fun, where you can experience what it's like to 'join in with the locals' who love having this spa as something of a bonus in their already very lovely village centre. It's a few euros to get in, and somewhat surreal swimming about in what feels like a local park, with the beautiful Tuscan villas surrounding you as you look up from the pool. Inside, you can book treatments and these do include massages, but these there is also a more serious side to this spa where people with health conditions come for medical treatments.

The spa also has open air 'disco's on a Friday evening and special occasion openings, such as on Halloween and New Year's Eve; these are deliberately not advertised very much because the whole point is not to spoil the feel of the place by overloading it with tourists. If you come expecting candles, fluffy towels, all that kind of luxury experience, you won't get it. If you turn up wanting to understand why locals return to the spa time and again and have huge affection for it, you will definitely enjoy it and, like me, return many times over.

Fascinating odd "Terme Villa Borri"
May 2019
I am not describing the main spa at Piazza Garibaldi 9, but the one that is in a historic building that according to the entrance ticket belongs to the main spa but is located in Via Gallileo Gallilei adjaccent to the main spa.
If you want to experience an outstanding relict of Italian administration and history you need to go there. The spa experience is n o t the reason to go there ! Entrance fee for 2h for 2 persons is 18 € well worth the experience. You will be flashed by the entrance procedure - you need to s i g n a sort of contract (?) or agreement that no live guard is on duty (?) all written in Italian. Then you enter a locker room that seems to be from the early 18th century. The spa itself matches this impression. The water is warm but not as warm as I had expected it. We have been in this small spa alone. There was just one more Gentleman for 20 Minutes with us. See the pictures....

NOT A SPA, its literally just an public swimming pool
May 2019 • Family
This is not a luxurious thermal spa it is just an expensive public swimming pool, indoor and outdoor. The decor was like a hospital. Not really what we thought we were signing up for, do not recommend. I think Italians actually come here for medical treatment.

Great local thermal spa
Apr 2019 • Couples
My wife and I were staying near Terricciola and found this wonderful local thermal spa with an outdoor pool in April. We also booked the couples massage and it was wonderful. Reasonably priced and frequented by locals. They were super-friendly and parking was a short walk away. We cannot wait to go back.

Great price for half day 11 Euros, curative waters, great water massage, loved the old fashioned simple

Perfect experience. Great price if you take a half day (11 Euros), but also a whole day is cheap. After 5 hours enjoying the massage jets and curing water my skin felt like silk. No smells like other natural water springs in Tuscany!!! ESPECIALLY THE MASSAGE JETS LET YOU FEEL LIKE NEW BORN.

There must have been a strong improvement ...
Mar 2019 • Couples
After reading some very critical reviews by visitors a few years ago, we understand that there must have been a strong improvement in this structure.
The outdoor pool (when we visited it, in March, it was open only on Saturday and Sunday) is pleasant for the naturally warm water (37 or 38 Celsius degrees), slightly sulphurous, which gives a feeling of relaxation and well-being. This feeling is enhanced by the superficial and underwater water jets present in the pool, which allow natural massages at your will.
There are still some flaws (nothing dramatic anyway). The lockers' keys are easy to store if you have an inside pocket in the swimsuit, otherwise they can be a problem (eg, at the Merano thermal baths, instead, the keys are connected to a rubber bracelet: that ensures their conservation during swimming). Some water jets in the pool are out of order. The changing rooms and showers are not so many: possibly, in the event of a greater crowd some queues can occur.
Finally, the staff is not as friendly as it would be desirable for those facing the public.

Horrible Place
Jan 2019 • Family
Where to start... the only positive note is the following: This place could be a gold mine.. if properly managed and kept.... and that is about it..

Currently, the place is horrible, dirty, and falling a part.. almost every where. Restroom are may be 40 to 50 years old... nothing works.. and did I say DIRTY...

The only thing up to date is the price to get in... VERY EXPENSIVE... for what they offer..... that is NOTHING.... 18Euros per person.... really???? No Way.... Staff VERY unfriendly too... Do yourself a favor.... save your self money and do not go to this place

Lovely outdoor pool with various water features to stimulate the body all set in a garden right in the centre of the town. My wife also had a good massage.

Ok but not fabulous
Jul 2018 • Couples
We went looking for this place as it came highly rated as a superb thermal spa...When we arrived in the city we were surprised that is was just a busy outdoor pool...water felt great but too many people to be a relaxing experience. No receptionist was available to answer questions upon arrival.

They have given up
Jan 2018 • Solo
I purposely came for a ten-day packet. I spend a minimum of ten minutes each day standing - no chair! - on corridors waiting for the therapists to show up in front of a locked door. They always made up for those minutes but this resulted in me being either late or rushed at the following session which was also sometimes cut short. I asked the reception if I could know the exact time when to show up to stop waiting around and if I could make up for those lost minutes and the answer was basically nope to both. They looked at me like I had two heads. I was told I was the only one who has ever complained and that they never ever had a problem with anyone before me. I had planned to make a big purchase of spa products but could not be provided with one single tester. The structure is tatty, the toilets are broken or not cleaned, the cabinets are rusty. One is not required to thoroughly wash before entering the pool, no soap provided in the showers. It is a total pity because the water in itself is great and the single therapists seemed competent.
