Overview
More
Not all of the sites on Hadrian's Wall were heavily guarded fortresses. Corbridge was a supply base and bustling town where the Romans and civilians would pick up food and provisions. Today, you can still walk through the town's streets and experience a true time-capsule of Roman life. You can see a valuable hoard of objects found during excavations, including Roman armour and trinkets, which provide a fascinating insight into the life of a soldier.

These are really good ruins in a good state of preservation. Things here you wont see anywhere else. There are still 10 acres underground just waiting for funding to unearth them.

Corbridge is a very pretty town with lovely shops and good restaurants. We visited the many varied shops and enjoyed a lovely walk by the river with our dogs. We will be returning for the Christmas Shopping Evening in December, late night shopping and street...More

A really exciting site to get to grips with the mechanics of a Roman town including walking down the streets. Museum was shut for what appeared to be refurbishment and the place therefore really lacked some interpretation. Particularly lacking was an understanding of the extent...More

We carried on from Segedunum and this site is brilliant. The Roman Street to the raised floors in the granaries, a great site with stunning views to boot. Plenty of parking and the site has a small shop. Great shame the museum but was closed...More

We were lucky to visit here on a sunny day and were we ever impressed. Such a charming place to visit. Plenty of pubs and all doing food and lots of local shops selling quality goods. A hidden gem.

We visited 3 Roman forts along Hadrian's Wall over 2 days. This one is interesting from the perspective that you can see the remains of Stane Street which ran between Corbridge and Carlisle and formed the idea of the line of Hadrian's Wall which was...More

Well excavated remains of a Roman supply town for the forts along Hadrian's Wall. The price comes with an audio guide which is very interesting, but can be a little long-winded in places. There are plenty of information boards if audio guides aren't your thing...More

Hi, it can take around 2 to 3 hours. It's not a big site. It's really nice though and staff are excellent answering all your questions. I think it's worth the visit if you don't have time to go to any of the other... More
