Mt Lofty is highlight of night sky
Jun 2021
You could not visit Adelaide without visting Mount Lofty. At night, you get a spectacular view of the lights of Adelaide from the summit of Mount Lofty. Mount Lofty is the pinnacle of the Adelaide Hills, the mountain is over 710 meters (2330 feet) tall. Mount Lofty is 15 km (10 miles) from the Adelaide CBD. The trip will take around 20 minutes. There may be a relatively small parking fee.

Good views. Cafe, gift shop & toilets on site. Expensive parking fees apply. Wouldn't bother going too far out of my way though.

Awesome views
Apr 2021
We drove to the parking area and then there was a short walk to the summit lookout. $4 parking fee. Once at the summit there were plenty of others that had walked or ridden their bikes to the top. A nice restaurant/cafe at the summit as well as a visitors information centre with lots of souvenirs.

Gorgeous view

It was a beautiful view over the city from Mount Lofty. We were unfortunately too late and the coffee shop was already closed. They should really consider staying open at least till 5pm.

It was amazing
Feb 2021
Me and my friend visited Mt Lofty Summit has a great view and the scenic drive around Mt Lofty is really beautiful, definitely worth the drive and walk. But the highlight for me, was I saw two koalas in the surrounding trees. It was so lovely to see them, especially after the bushfires this year and how many we have lost. Go for the view and stay, hopefully, for some koalas. There is so much more to see but I recommend going for a whole day and having a picnic and enjoying the land of the Aboriginal people.

Rather Expensive
Jan 2021
My wife and I often come to the café, combining this with a visit to the Mount Lofty Gardens. We enjoy this café with its great choice of cakes, spacious dining area, and great views. A weekday afternoon visit has the advantage of less people! I have noticed a previous review of mine making positive comment about the Black Forest Cake, and that continues! My only reservation about the visit is the cost. A shared piece of cake and two coffees cost $15.60, which is at the upper end of the scale, but OK. But then you have to add $4 for a carpark, making this quite an expensive coffee. Some places give you a rebate / refund on your parking in exchange for your patronage.

Koalas!

Mt Lofty Summit has a great panoramic view and the scenic drive around Mt Lofty is really beautiful, definitely worth the slight detour. But the highlight for me, which unfortunately I can't guarantee for you, was that we saw two koalas in the surrounding trees!! Well worth the time to travel to the summit as the view is very good out over Adelaide and surrounds. You have to pay for parking.

Great place to come
Aug 2020
This is a great place to come if you are visiting the Adelaide Hills. It has easy parking ($4), and there is handicapped parking for those who need it. There are a number of things to do here. Most people come to look at the view out over the Adelaide Plains which is very scenic if a little distant. Then there is the Café which never disappoints: the Black Forest torte today was fresh and an absolute delight! There are good toilet facilities too. It is also worth investigating the shop: essentially a large souvenir shop for visiting tourists, but with a great range of quality products. We are locals and finished up buying a birthday present here. The Summit can be accessed by car, or as the destination climbing up the track from Waterfall Gully – if you are fit and energetic!
