We give wildlife talks, wildlife photography workshops, kids nature trails...

We give wildlife talks, wildlife photography workshops, kids nature trails and eco treasure hunts! Come and visit The Old Rectory Killedmond where we meet you and provide organic refreshments and talk about the local environment. Afterwards we'll go for a relaxing walk, low hills to no hills, and point out all the amazing flora and fauna we have. Then enjoy afternoon tea in the garden or by the fire and discuss what we've seen. Go wild in the Blackstairs!

Lovely weekend away with himself for our 2 x year anniversary. Mary was very informative by email right up to our trip so we felt 'at home' already. The huts are really cosy and warm - ideal for a quick getaway. Breakfast was delicious - Mary's homemade soda bread is to die for! Peaceful and tranquil surroundings...what more can you... More

We enjoyed a most pleasant stay here. It was simply delightful to be living so close to nature and the experience brought camping to a new level! Situated in a beautifully idyllic part of county Carlow, Blackstairs Eco Trails is a rare gem. Our host, Mary, gave us the warmest of welcomes and was ever-helpful during our short stay. Sleeping... The owners of this wonderful retreat have created the perfect set-up for an escape from city life. The shepherd huts are built for comfort but allows you to feel close to the rich natural environment in this beautiful part of the country. Highly recommend!

Such a memorable and wonderful experience staying at Blackstairs Eco Trails. I have been telling everyone I know about this gem of a place. We stayed in the shepherd's huts. They were really comfortable, warm and cosy and such a lovely way to wake up - to bird song in the morning! The converted barn is just magical- the perfect... More

A blend of traditional Irish themed accommodation and 5* comfort, the Shepard huts are an absolute must if you want to do something really special for a weekend. Carefully positioned under beautiful old beech trees lit up by fairy lights at night and with amazing views of Mt Leinster, you won't forget staying here. I had heard about this place... More

Had a brilliant night staying in their new huts. Brilliant place to wake up to listen to the dawn chorus on May day. The Barn is a beautiful space - wonderful views across mount Leinster. Mary is a wonderful host and couldn't have made us feel more at home. All in all a great way to spend a weekend. Couldn't... More

Thank you Mary and Robert for providing a fabulous day at Eco Trails. We set off, baskets in arm collecting nettles, sorrell leaves, primroses, Dandelions, wild garlic all of which went into our soup, scones and salads later. I haven't felt so at one with nature since I was 8 or 10 years old. Lunch was delicous and all homemade.... More

We had a lovely afternoon with Mary and Robert on a gorgeous sunny day along the banks of the River Barrow. Tea and homemade goodies on arrival was followed by a very informative stroll where Mary pointed out lots of interesting and cool facts about the seemingly mundane. We're really keen to do something similar again.

It took a bit of finding but once we arrived at Blackstairs Eco Trails, the hospitality of Mary and Robert who led us on a wonderful two hour wander through their beautiful woods and riverbanks: the delicious home cooked morning and substantial afternoon tea, and the witty, broad ranging chat around the long table, made this experience the highlight of...
