Amazing 🇬🇷☀️
Sep 2021 • Couples
Amazing and magic view on Crete. You must see at your own eyes this lagoon when you will be on island. But remeber about difficult way with stones and rocks to get there. After park your car, you must go about 15 min by foot, but it's realy nice path. When you get there you say " WOOOOW" 😊

Keep away
Sep 2021 • Couples
Bay full of ship oil tar. Everywehere you set pace sand and rocks alike. On your towel legs, hands, umbrella & oil stench in every part here. Boat fully loaded with passengers, nobody wearing a mask (covid-19) social distancing not observed, & as I said everyone touching the other due to the lack of seats cause of the overcrowded vessel 'Gramvousa' boat. People smoking next to you while you're having a snack in the lounge too! NO enforcement. NO RESPECT mainly from teens. Anarchy reigns. Money Money Money. Never again in Crete !!!

Great adventure and yes you can drive!
Sep 2021 • Couples
5 Takeaways from A&B
1) YES, you can make the drive there and yes, the road is rocky with cliffs. BUT, you can make it there by car! We drove a BMW i3 there with no problem. The drive adds to the adventure and experience of your holiday in Crete, so make the drive.

2) Wear water shoes. Not only is the trek from the parking lot to the lagoon long and an adventure in itself, other parts of the lagoon that you may want to explore have a rocky terrain in and out the water so water shoes for that are beneficial.

3) get there early. We got there around 9:45-10am. There was plenty of parking and plenty of day beds at this time. Do yourself a favor and get there around this time because you don’t want to compete with the ferries ( they come in about 12:30ish) and the other drivers who park along the cliffs.

4) bring cash. Entrance fee is 1 euro per person. Day bed is 15 euros. There’s a vendor at the lagoon and they take credit. O, and the washroom cost 1 euro.

5) The trek up and down from the parking lot. This is a hike! Down is a lot easier than up, but as long as you have good health, no heart condition or knee/foot issues, you can do it! It’s all part of the adventure. That said, wear comfy shoes for this trek!

Great adventure and that’s what you want to experience and remember. Also the beach is nice. There’s pink sand there too. It’s close to Maldivian water in its clarity and very refreshing on a hot day.

Better on photos but overall enjoyable experience
Sep 2021 • Couples
Went to this beach with a cruise type of boat. Place is kept immaculate and you have the beauty of two types of water one lake like and the other the open sea. I stromg suggest to bring along water shoes as seabed is full of pebbles. There is 1 bar on the beach which sells food and basic drinks like soda, wine and iced coffees. Bins can be found around the beach so please don't litter as place is immaculate. Some parts even have red sand, overall sweet experience but full of tourists boat by boat and by foot. All in all it was an enjoyable experience

Beautiful Place, avoid the drive
Sep 2021
We decided to hire a car to do the drive to Balos. We had read forums and went for a jeep style suzuki vitara, which we were pleased with when it came to avoiding rocks and pot holes. We arrived early ( around 9.30) and got a spot in the car park easily. Fabulous to have the beach so quiet until the big boats arrived at 12 noon.
We left around 2pm and found the journey back a little traumatic. By this point cars were parked for around a mile and a half down the mountain track, leading to space for 1 car for most of this section. Needless to say with cars going in both directions, we ended up
in gridlock several times with cars needing to do hair-raising manoeuvres on a cliff edge. Any way made down safely and we were so glad to have seen the lagoon, but would probably not attempt the road again.
Apart from the big boats there are smaller companies offering boat trips from kissamos and falanarssa. Would probably stick with that option.

Balos Paradise !
Sep 2021 • Family
Amazing !
We went on fairly windy day but didnt let anything ruin our experience.
Heard so much nice things about it we set from Hersonissos just off Heraklion for 3 hour drive.
There are two days to get there ;
First one is pretty challenging eapecially if you have kids. If you are lucky or early enough you park your car nearer to path down to the beach then its a good 45 min steep walk. This is ok if you dont wanna be tied up with any time limits boats will give you but going back up is total agony :(
Second one is the one we took we drove right up to the Kissamos Port was easy to find parking spot then took the ferry. Good think aboit this is it takes you to Gramvousa too.

Do’s:
-Take a jumper if you are going to take the boat its
- Sit on the left when you are going to islands and on the right when getting back.
- If you are walking wear shoes
- Take cash
- Go to the boat earlier than required time to get a good spot
- Have your phone / camera fully charged

Ensure you take cash as you can't use bank card there.
Sep 2021 • Friends
Great place unfortunately we got there a bit late but still amazing. Only downside is that to get there you have to go off road for a while and once your there it's a bit of a walk to the beach. But great experience, I would highly advise take cash with you as we thought we could use card and there isn't any option for that there. But overall brilliant and beautiful.

Spectacular view
Aug 2021 • Family
Spectacular view and marvellous scenery, but hard to get there by car. Parking space is very limited, the car is to be left much before and walking to the “view point” might take nearly an hour. Flip flops are definitely not the footwear for this type of walk. Goats are everywhere, walking along and interacting 😂
I do recommend to get there by boat from Kissamos, especially if with children. Umrellas are a way too few
