The view from the top is glorious! Amazing. Brilliant. The walk down is about 2km, and happily, walking back up wasn't as arduous as anticipated. Possibly one of the most beautiful beaches I've seen - water is crystal clear and turquoise blue. Is just the...More

We had a locals tip to head to Balos early. We left at 7am, got to the carpark at 7:30am (3 other cars there) and got to the lagoon at 8:00am. We spent 2.5 hours here (we sat on two chairs under an umbrella and...More

This place is amazing. We took the cruise from Kissamos, all day (visiting also Gramvousa) and the cost was 27€/13€. Totally worth it even though the boat was crowded and a lot of waiting was already expected... pack your diving mask or at least swimming...More

We arrived to Balos by car, which meant 9km of dirt track with rocks and goats on the road to reach the car park (it took us around half an hour), and then we walked down to the lagoon (we were in no rush so...More

This a must place to go when visiting Crete! Blue shallow waters are rounding the small islands creating magnificent beaches with crystal clear waters! Try not to go in August as it is very crowdy.

We went in April when there was virtually no one there. Very unique and beautiful spot. Short fun hike in and out after 30 minute dirt road drive in.

This is a beautiful place, but spoiled by a terrible road (6km along bumpy rutted gravel) followed by a long walk (2km according to the lady at the entrance) the walk is ok on the way down but is very tiring on the way back...More

A truly stunning beach but the dirt track road & the walk down - but more importantly UP - to the beach means I would definitely recommend going by ferry. After a long hot enjoyable afternoon on the beach it was nearly all spoilt by...More

We visited the beach by ferry: we bought the tickets in Chania, we arrived in Kissamos by bus. The beach is very big, you didn't think it was crowded even if many people were with us. I liked the lagoon, it's nice to walk there....More

Hi, Yes there are usually excursion shops and stands near hotels, main towns and streets where they have more information on attractions. I saw quite a few and I’m sure they do direct boat trips. Hope this helps!
