Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I can’t recommend this tour highly enough. Mary and Janet are warm, welcoming and very knowledgeable hosts and tour guides. Check-in process is hassle-free and reassuring. The bikes (we took the e-bike option) are wonderful, the scenery stunning. We did a guided tour (about 25k easy cycling) with Mary, stopping at Caherconnell in time for the sheep dog demonstration which was a lovely bonus alongside the visit to the ring fort and the welcome coffee break. We also visited Poulnabrone dolmen. If you are interested in botany/archaeology/social history/geography there’s something in this tour for you, and it’s also a lovely way to get a taste of the stunning Burren landscape. Don’t miss it!

If you are headed to this area of Ireland, don't miss this tour!!! We did the self tour and it was very doable. The electric bike made the trip easy and we covered quite a bit of distance to see all sorts of amazing sites. Wonderful time!!!!

My wife and I recently did the self guided tour. With the e-bike choice, you can seamlessly crank out a full day itinerary in the area while also having time to relax all along the way at the sites and cafes. If you go out to the perfumery, it is a bit of a climb, but you can turn it on power mode and crank through if you're having any issues. My 5 month pregnant wife looked very leisurely while climbing the hill on power mode. Scenery in the area is beautiful, traffic is light on the roads you travel, though you will be on lightly trafficked roads built for bikes for the most part. Nice feature of the bikes is that it is tracking your distance for you so it is easy to use the written directions and know that say, in 2 km, will come upon XYZ site.

I booked this tour online, and then was emailed the next day to coordinate pickup and drop off times. Janet was so helpful from the beginning! It was easy to find with the GPS, just look at the picture ahead of time of what the front door looks like and then you will see it once you're on the Main St. My friend did NOT know how to ride a bike whatsoever and Janet helped her basically learn how to ride a bike! The E bikes are powered by a battery pack that works as an assist while you pedal. It's a lot of fun! And they provide you with a map and guidance on which way to go to see things you're interested in! I had the best time and it was the highlight of my stay in Ireland! I would highly recommend it because you're actually in the country side rather than looking at everything from a tour bus! Thank you again, Janet!!!

Hi Serena, thank you so much for taking the time to review us, and I'm so glad you enjoyed our beautiful countryside and all the historical sites around us. Your friend did really well, I only really had to teach her how to get OFF the bike!! Hopefully the rest of your trip went well, we would love to see you back in Clare again Janet

Great experience if you can take a tour with Janet - very informative and goes at whatever pace you want. Electric bike allowed you to be out there with nature - and not sweating too much.
Will be back

We rented one of the Kalkhoff e-bikes for a 5 day cycling tour of Clare, Aran Islands and Galway. The e-bike was for a friend who has a dodgy knee and going up hills is not easy for him, but these bikes take the effort out of the hills and allow you to cruise along at 20 km/hr with little effort. The bike is simple to use and after a few minutes you forget that it is not a regular bike you are riding, apart from the extra 'help' it provides as you go up hills. The battery power lasts at least for 100km (probably up to 130/140 if you use it sparingly) and fully recharges on the provided charger overnight.

Janet and her team provided a great service, delivering the bike to my home and took care of any little problems we had in a pleasant and cheerful manner. We broke up our trip into a few sections including a 50km loop down into the heart of the Burren around Carran and the Burren Perfumery (great stop for Organic Coffee and Cakes!), continuing the next day from the top of the Corker Hill to Lisdoonvarna and on to Doolin where we got the 11:30am Ferry to Inisheer. We had until 3pm to explore this the smallest island with its patchwork of tiny fields before continuing onwards by ferry to Inishmore ... checked in to Kilmurvey Guesthouse and visited Dún Aonghasa prehistoric fort. The next morning we had a leisurely cycle back to Kilronan and a look around before catching the 12:00 noon ferry to Rossaveal. Another landscape of south Connemara and a choice to cycle either through the mountains or beside the sea back into Galway. The " Cois Fharraige" road from Rossaveal through Spiddal Furbo and Barna is busy with traffic, but there is a path most of the way which made it somewhat safer to cycle. (I am not sure if cycling is really allowed on this footpath but we took it easy and there were not too many pedestrians using it). Stopped for totally unhealthy coleslaw and chips in Spiddal and visited the Ceardlann craft centre. Other trips we made included a ride out to Aughinish Island with its Martello tower and great views of the bay, and a trip around the inner bay out along the causeway to Tawin Island which is nearly in the middle of the bay, and the Ardfry peninsula.

There is a lot to see and do in this part of the world and travelling by bike is a great option to travel. The e-whizz bikes make it much more accessible if you are concerned about your ability to cover the kilometers. Our trip was 270 km in total including the ferry which is about 40km and we did have car back up to drop us off to some of our starting locations. There are a huge number of possibilities for short or long routes in this part of the country, and the chance to see hidden parts that you miss if travelling by car.

Loved the electric bikes. Jannet was great and helped us navigate 9ff main roads from Kilfenore to Fanore beach. A swim and then a beautiful ride thru the Burren and out towards the perfumary. Spectacular, highly recommended.

JANET provided excellent service. She picked us up at our Hotels in Doolin and drove us to Kilfenora and quickly set us up on the electric bikes and a map of a short tour and tips for where to eat cake at a café on the way. We happened to run into her and her guided tour along the way and she provided more advice on how to return to Kilfenora and see wild orchids on the way. She drove us to a bus stop at a nearby Village and even gave my daughter money to use the bathroom at the visitor center across the street. Fantastic service and good quality Bicycles and just the right length of Tour.

Way exceeded our expectations! We had a blast renting electric bikes for 1/2 day for a self guided tour with our teenage kids. We did the cliff walk all morning and were a bit tired. Thank goodness for electric bikes!! Janet was so nice to email with and when we arrived, had our bikes waiting for us. If we rented all day, they would have delivered to our hotel but this worked out better! She gave us a map and we rode all through gorgeous countryside roads in Kilfenora. Parts were so green with magnificent farmland, cows and horses. We passed a beautiful old church. Other areas looked like the Burren with rocky terrain. We passed very few cars and we all loved it. The bikes were excellent!! Top quality. It was our first time on an electric bike and I would not have enjoyed the hills without it! It’s super easy to learn and you can have as much “assist” as you want. We had to pedal but it was very easy and the electric part gave us the push that made it really fun!! We all gave this a 10!

Travelling by electric bike has got to be the best way to see the Burren in County Clare, Ireland. And Janet's shop in Kilfenona has got to be the best place to hire one!! She's extremely knowledgeable and very helpful about places to visit and distances too
