Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great little hike but climb to the Old Navaroni is a MUST. Don't pay attention to people saying it is not recommended. With a sensible level of fitness it's perfectly doable.

This hidden cave is right under the castle of Voidokilia. Combining a hike to the castle with visiting the cave and the famous beach is a must. Best time to visit the area is before sunset, that is at least 2 hours before in order to enjoy the most out of it.

Nothing special about this cave, except of course as a historic place. The view over the Voidokilia beach is good, but is much better over the Old Castle

We parked at the beach and walked around the semi-circle and up to the cave, which seems to be the only way.A beautiful beach with clear shallow water and little fish swimming around to paddle in on the way there and back. No toilets or cafe, though, and the nearest cafe is a couple of kilometres away. A bit of a scramble up to Nestor's cave, which is nothing special in itself, but the views from there are magnificent.

It is a stiff climb up to the Cave of Nestor and continuing from it to the ramparts of Old Navarino isn’t recommended. The best approach to the latter is from the Sikia Channel to the south. This Cave was within the limits of the ancient city of Koryfasion and well known under this name to ancient authors. One thing is certain. The Cave was used in prehistoric times and was occupied since the Stone Age. Archaeological excavations have demonstrated that. Be careful of open trenches toward the back.

Other reviews cover the sand dunes element. My advice is to plan to go to the top and enjoy a dip in the sea afterwards. It is quite a hike up and the sand is a challenge on the first bit while the steep part after the cave is .. adventurous. Many bathers did it in flip flops (??????) so it is doable with decent running or walking shoes. Just bring a few btls of water and a camera. The views from the castle walls are just simply awesome! And you can wander around the walls of this largish castle to see all vantage points. Don’t forget a towel for bathing in the lovely water afterwards. Enjoy!!!

A strenuous walk over exhausting sand dunes then up very pretty but at times challenging path. ( we are healthy almost 70 year olds but could manage it)
It’s a big cave and certainly Nestor could have housed a fair few cows in there but not sure how he would have got them up there in the first instance.
Having got that far you might as well keep going up another more tricky climb to the castle where there are stunning views of Vodakilia beach.

We walked up to Nestor's cave from Voidokilia Beach.
This is a steep walk up the sand dune then a rocky path covered in bushes.
The view when you get to the cave makes it all worthwhile but the cave itself is nothing special.

Cave is nothing special but views are spectacular! It's a good walk up from the beach - we did it barefoot but recommend trainers!
