On the morning we went there were 18 monks singing Gregorian chants. Worth the trip. Magical! Pay attention to the "locals" in attendance for cues on when to stand or sit.

Please, visit this monastery, feel the history. A guided visit is available and will help you to understand the meaning of every single detail. The pharmacy is another treasure inside.

I thought it was interesting but you only get to see the court yard the and two other rooms. So I recommend it if you have time.

Few town shops, restaurants are suspect, my daughter ended up in hospital, road is two lane from Lerma....do not speed and drive slower at night. Rural area. Try Parador in Lerma though Lerma is quite lacking in tourist alternatives. And....save your time Covvurubias the so...More

You have to be there for Vespers, about 7 pm, when the monks render homage to their Creator with Gregorian Chant. It is a religious experience despite and because of its beauty. The Cloister itself is a treat. I recommend reading about it before visiting....More

Wonderful architecture and statuary plus an interesting museum with some important artefacts. In the middle of the cloister the interesting Cypress tree which inspired the poem by Gerardo Diego which our group had studied prior to the visit. The surrounding village is beautiful.
