Really enjoyed our trek to half moon lake. We were given a choice to take the easy, intermediate or hard trek and was recommended the intermediate trek. Was a little tiring for the 1st few minutes as it was a little uphill and I was not that fit hahaha but the view was gorgeous! Kids loved the trek especially the last part where we slid down the hill towards half moon lake. Brownies and tea was served in the middle of the frozen lake. This trek was quite an adventure and a lovely way to enjoy nature and the beauty of Hokkaido in winter. The views were truly breathtaking.

I visited the climbing adventure centre with my two kids aged 13 and 8. The facilities and the course are really good, but the staff, and in particular the male guide who is about 23 to 28 years old, was the most miserable little Japanese man I have ever come across. Either his girlfriend had just left him, he had just been diagnosed with a deadly disease or he hadnt been paid his wages in a few months. In any event, it was a shame, because it should have been a great experience, but his poor attitude turned into a miserable one.

I'm not going to name the individuals but I strongly advise anyone to use the many other ski schools in Niseko. We had 4 instructors on the same day. Adult x 1 Adults x 2 Children x 2 First off. The kids They put our children in danger. They had them skiing on the side of the parking lot and along the walkway putting their safety at risk. See pic #1 and #2 The two ladies without group said their instructor kept swearing at them when the fell and complaining that they were beginners. My instructor had was about 10 meters to try and teach me so I learned nothing. He was polite though All of these were private lessons. 132,000 yen ($1320) as was complete garbage. Picture with the child in green, almost hit in the face with skiis and then almost hit another child, then slid into parking lot

We did the snowshoe guided tour with Prem (who was great - informative friendly patient and safety conscious). It was about a 5km round trip .....up a minor hill, around a crater, down to the frozen Half Moon Lake and offered sensational views of Mt Yotei. The snowshoes are easy to walk in, I’m quite unfit and found it easy, the skiers in my group were REALLY glad they had a day off to come .... “ nice change, slower paced, got to really experience the tranquility of the outdoors compared with skiing”. Really enjoyed the hike thru a Japanese forest complete with bamboo in the under storey.
