First - Castle was wonderful (not awesome), tour was pretty good (not in English), medieval fair on grounds was less than mediocre (not formally affiliated with castle). We visited La Barben in August for a tour and were met with a medieval fair procession when we approached the castle. We felt so lucky to have chosen that day to visit... More

On arriving in the vast grounds of this beautiful castle set on its enormous rock between mounts and vale one has the feeling of entering an 18th century painting. It is imposing without being ominous. The French gardens are small but well maintained and are used as the setting for weddings and other ceremonies when required, as part of the... More

We went on the tour (guide very entertaining but only spoke in French) of the many beautiful, fully furnished, rooms in the small but historic castle. Bit odd having a hotel in the heart of the chateau which opened onto a terrace that we passed through and a wedding was taking place that afternoon in the formal gardens, but it... More

This place is for people who like Middle Ages - the atmosphere, the ambiance, design. This is a castle, there is a wonderful park, a restaurant, gift shop. I recommend a walk in the park to stop the clock at least for the short term. If you want to know the historical details - you can use the guided tours.... More

On our road from Arles to Aix de Provance we stopped in this castle. You must go and visit such wonderful place still exist. We are already booked for night and prepaid but wish we can spend night or two in the castle. Average room prices are very affordable . But we will do homework for you.

First of all, the price is cheap. We enjoyed appetizers and cocktials on the patio with the owners and other guests at sunset, which was wonderful. Then we moved inside for dinner in the castle kitchen - also wonderful. The room itself was no frills - all antiques. Bed wasn't too comfy. That is my biggest complaint. But, you're sleeping... We stayed there and so enjoyed the complimentary tour. We saw many tourists on guided tour to this place and we can understand why. The place was beautiful and the guide was informative. It will be a great experience visiting this place.

We stopped off here from Provence on our way to Nice. It was well worth it. The grounds and the view are lovely. At the bottom of the long drive way has a great garden with a pound. As you talk the walk up the inclined drive way and pass under the overhang of what was a gate and guard... More

The chateau is in very good condition, and the tour is well worth the €9 admission. The tour guide is in costume, and bilingual, as are the guidebooks. The gardens surrounding the chateau are viewed from above, and are worth a few pictures at least. The owners still live in the chateau, and the tour takes you through 11 of... More

Really lovely chateau with a french guided tour that was interesting in any language we had detailed written script as well. This is a very interesting castle and is still used as a home with many rare furnishings each with a story. Finding the parking is a bit difficult as you have to ignore the parking for the ZOO and...
