Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

As one walks up to the main entrance to the Uesugi Shrine, there is a shrine off to the right. It is worth a few minutes to visit, either before or after visiting the main event.

Originally the site of the castle of Yonezawa, the shrine commemorates the Uesugi family. This is the main attraction of Yonezawa. We visited for the Hatsumode (the first shrine visit for the year), and prayed for good health and luck of our family this year. A popular place for Hatsumode, but this year, it was not too crowded. The shrine and its surrounding is a good place to worship, but also an excellent place for Hanami (party around the cherry blossoms during Spring). Highly recommended.

Nice setting, interesting shrine with a nice garden. A waterfall trickling down makes a nice sound as it empties into a nice pond. A quick interesting visit on the way to the Uesugi Kenshin shrine.
