For breathtaking views, lovely surroundings and exquisite food, the Takahara Kirinosato is unbeatable. It also helps that the owner is very hospitable and engaging, making guests feel completely at ease.

Walking the Kumamo with friends and we stayed here the first night. The accommodations are basic, but more than adequate. The service is great and the food was very good.

Beautifully located ryokan with breath taking views from each of the 8 rooms. Some have beds as opposed to futons and thankfully western toilets (which is not so common in ryokans on the Kii Peninsula). The food was magnificent; Mori-San is a skilled Japanese chef....More

Spectacular views, quality rooms, kind and generous hosts/staff, super friendly and amazing onset (japanese communal bath) with natural hot spring.... the food was divine! the entire experience was so memorable. we stayed in the japanese style room which made the experience even better
